Isn’t the error of this obvious based on the last three months versus the last four years?

Working class left and right likely do have way more in common than they realize, but the difference is not inconsequential for working class.

You fight right-wing populism with left-wing populism. Improve the populations material needs by correctly addressing the systemic issues instead of scapegoating minorities.

If we’ve devolved to populists on either side trading blows and undoing everything the other team did every 4-8 years by executive orders and authoritarian actions, our country is totally cooked. Might as well pack it up and go home. The US is finished.

Why are you ‘both sides’-ing populism?

Populism is popular because it recognizes the material harms people are experiencing, that means high rent, high cost of living, low wages, bad healthcare, bad public infrastructure, ect.

Right-wing populism exploits that sentiment by scapegoating minorities. Immigrants, LGBT, minorities. It blames them for the problems people are facing to justify fascist policies such as mass deportation, the removal of human rights, and crackdowns on dissent.

Left-wing populism correct identifies the root causes of the material harms and addresses them directly. That means policies for public housing, public infrastructure, universal healthcare, trust busting, high taxes on the wealthy, environmental regulations, even UBI.

Populism exists because the status quo causes harm to the population. There is no choice but to address that harm. If the root causes are not addressed with left-wing populism, right-wing populism will take advantage of the situation to accelerate into Fascism. That’s where we are now in America, fascist. Without any left-wing opposition (and I mean leftist, not liberal), Fascism will continue to grow in it’s violence in both domestic and foreign policy.

Why are you ‘both sides’-ing populism?

Because they’re still mad that their team lost and they’re too blinded by their hatred of the out-group to see any possibility of revolution or unity beyond the electoralism that has once again failed them for glaringly obvious reasons, which they refuse to recognize, because it’s easier to blame scapegoats; sexists, racists, minorities that don’t vote the way they’re supposed to, people who are just too stupid for their own good; than to admit they or their party should have done anything differently and simply isn’t up to the task of defending against fascism. They aren’t interested in “root causes”, or material reality, or even their own party’s rhetorical strategy; only the letter next to the names of their politicians.

In other words, they have fallen into exactly the same patterns as the enemy they so vehemently oppose. Scratch a liberal.

I bet you guys think I’m gonna talk to you about getting back up after getting knocked down in life. But I’m not. I’m gonna talk to you about hats. Not those square hats like the one you guys are wearing, which, by the way, I can’t believe you’re all wearing the same hat. That is tripping me out, man. Does everybody here wear the same hat in Miami? It’s like a square hat with a string note . I never, ever in my life seen a hat like that. Are you all wearing the same clothes too? Is this some kind of religious school? What the fuck is going on here?

Bernie and AOC are centrists, they think labor and capital can be compromised. In my opinion I want all of my labor value and I want all of my freedoms, in addition I do not wish to compromise with tyrants. Centrists like them are ok in awful systems such as liberal democracy but under a workers democracy they would be laughed away.

Left vs. Right is literally Monarchists vs. Jacobins in the early days of the French Revolution.

That’s an organic emergence and the terms since then have tried to map to that binary of traditional power vs. reorganisation of society.

I mean… I think a lot of right wing people hate all the parts of capitalism, but don’t connect the dots to see that. Instead they blame the queers or the foreigners or whatever.

But the segment of laborers who want to kill all the out-groups are real and a problem.

The right don’t want to stop the rich. They want a permission structure where they can smash queers and immigrants and womens faces into the concrete. They’re willing to pay for that permission structure with everything they have.

The right literally dont want to stop the rich. They want to stop the left from stopping the rich. People who identify as right wing can sometimes be brought out of the cancerous mindset that reinforces their oppression, but “the right” is absolutely no fucking ally to anyone seeking liberation for their community.

How does one discuss this with their “friends” who are terminally on X, think RFK jr and Carlson have “a lot of good ideas”, and unironically calls anything regarding equality woke? I’m at a loss. And no I don’t think the solution is “stop talking to them”, that doesn’t help us.

And also, we have much more in common than most realize, and we should find a way to work together on those things.

The right have completely bought into capitalist propaganda and because of that political solidarity with them is near impossible. For one to be free one must liberate their body and mind, if a populous frees themselves from capitalist oppression without class consciousness they will create a new capitalist class. We must educate them when possible but violently resist them when we must, sadly their alligence to tyranny will require resistance.
