I found that if you have the Idol of Silvanus in your inventory, it will reveal ambushes and hiding creatures. It won’t show you directly. But when they’re in range the blessing gets applied to them as well letting you know they are in the area.

Clearly the intended purpose. When silvanus blesses you nature will not hide your predators
