    The official client is an emacs package, interesting! These parts from the readme made me chuckle:

    To consume and read other users’ feeds, you can read them manually, use a script, or a client.

    Because of the decentralised nature it is very difficult to discover new users.

        Yes… but also WordPress is supposed to be a blogging platform, and now it powers like half the web.

        People hack around the arbitrary limitations of software all the time!

    I’m getting all my friends into Meshtastic, a system of mesh networked packet radios that can be very cheap and do not require a HAM license.

    A few of us will be trying out then forking a BBS running on an RPi connected to a radio node. Though that will technically be less decentralized, it will be more social media like.

    Matrix has at least 3 times as many users as bluesky. And most servers arent even publishing their users counts. But arguably most people arent using matrix as a social media platform. I wouldnt count discord as traditional social media either.
