          The paradox of tolerance.

It’s a fine idea, but you can not equate the right to privacy of an innocent person and a perpetrator. (I know courts see this differently.)

The only point I would agree on is leave out the kids, they had no choice.

You’re spinning in circles. I already admitted to understanding your point.

Since you like writing in proverbs, sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. Give them a taste of their own medicine. Let them feel what it’s like to be on the reciving end.

Those rich fucks tend to only pick fights with underpowered opponents, which is not that difficult due to their vast financial advantage. It’s only fair to level the playfield by such measures and one of the few things we can do.

Marjorie Green did not not think the rhetoric and threats of MAGA were bad until they started affecting her. She actually encouraged it in the past.

Some people don’t see an issue with a behavior they support and promote until they face it themselves.

I’m fine with a truce. They get rid of flock cameras, mass collection of communications metadata, etc, which includes our children, and I’ll support censoring posts like this.

But unilateral disarmament is what got us here.

Its a breaking of social contract argument.

Its bad when everyone does it, the point isn’t whether its a good thing to do or not. The social contract only works if people largely adhere to the conditions. The argument is that these people have broken their part, therefore are no longer entitled to the benefits of the bargain. It is a loss for society in general, and the action is a proposed remedy (as a social cost) aiming to restore the social contract.

Ah, no your argument is definitely on the same page then, but at different ends of that page.

So your disagreement goes to degree of breaking and ability for remedy.

Their argument is, the degree of targetting and surveillance has surpassed normal constraints while the ability for a remedy within the normal constraints of the social contract is no longer possible.

To take your example if a murderer is arrested and tried then order is restored and with it the social contract begins to heal. If the murderer however isn’t arrested and tried, then continues to murder, then what alternative remedies are available to be resorted to.

If we agree kidnapping people and keeping them locked up is bad, the response to someone doing that is… Arresting them and keeping them locked up.

you think what he does and supports doesn’t affect other people’s families? So, he can fuck with people’s families, but his family is beyond reproach? How does that make sense? Why do we have to respect the monster’s family when he obviously doesn’t have any qualms disrespecting our families? Fuck them kids. Monsters in training.

You understand this line of thinking is exactly why Elon Musk was allowed to fly under the radar for so many years?

No, the children are not at fault. They are his progeny, and they will be taught to think like him. Especially considering how rich they are.

I’m thinking of naming my kid Jared in order to ensure they grew up to be a successful but morally bankrupt person. Saves me from having to get a pension.

I don’t think I’ve ever met a nice Jared in my life.

I dunno, I have a respect for Americans who tend to just say what they think. Pretty open book. If they don’t like something they will say it. You know where you stand with them. And Australians are even more blunt. I came to love that about Australians. Cuz there’s no guessing. If they want to tell you something they don’t waste any time and dont coat it unecessarily in emotional bullshit. They don’t ‘handle’ adults like they are fragile children. Say what they mean. Mean what they say.

Although Industry can influence that behaviour.

Cuz Canadians don’t play like that. They play a totally different game. Say nice things. Hide ulterior motives. Insult you in actions. But say something completely different. Take Joy in your failure. And never say it to your face. Deep grudges. Will put oil rags in your tank without telling you and hope you die. No range of 1-100 in anger. Just happy until they aren’t and they go a full 1000 with it. Never confront you to your face at a reasonable point before getting there. No discussion leading up to it. Heavy manipulating. Sabotaging. If you don’t ’pick up on their hints’ they automatically add you to their shit list. They won’t warn you you’re heading into shit unless there is legal obligation to. Watch your back. Constantly. With a friggin smile on your face.

          Crooked Lawyers flourish there.

Elon’s a straight up Bond villain. I feel guilty for owning a Starlink, but it’s the only high speed internet in my area. Ridiculous that this pricks behaviour means that I now have to justify my choice of IP.

Sadly no, just fiber to the cabinet, then copper to the house. When I called the provider to tell them I was switching to Starlink they said there were ‘curently no plans’ for fiber to the premises in my area, so I suspect it’ll be a few years away at the very least.

Annoyed to be paying money to that dick, but it’s literally 10x faster at 420mb, which is what I’m getting now.

It helps if you live in a country where the ISPs don’t have a monopoly. They are forced to provide high speed internet to pretty much everyone just in case the competition does it first.

It is weird to think that you have been rural in various places but still expected fiber somewhere.

We don’t even have cell signal here. It took 3 years just to get electricity.

And I am only an hour from the capital of canada.

I agree with your comment, and also

Maybe, like many people, Jake & wife found the fact humorous that trump was propagating fake news about people eating cats & dogs, not that they found the fact humorous that the people wrongly suspected of cat-&-dog-eating were receiving death threats 🫤

In the case of people so influential as Elon and Trump, no one should laugh when they propagate insidious fake news, as the impact such thing has in our society can not be underestimated. If you laugh about someone committing a crime, in my eyes you are also part of the problem.
