Homosexuality has been accepted more than its been oppressed in world history.
Nice try commies
Except it was France in 1791.
Then why is it illegal in Russia and China at the moment?
That is what I don’t get about tankies. They would get executed if they tried to use their pronouns in the countries they are simping for.
Iirc stalin made it illegal again, not much good that stalin guy
“I have to tell ya man, the more I hear about this Hitler fella, the less I like him”
Hitler is hella sus fr fr
Same with them simping for people who put in no term limits, one party systems, and want to invade countries that don’t consent to it. Pretty much all the reasons to hate Trump.
I really don’t get it. Aren’t communists supposed to be power to the people for the people, and have the government fear the people as opposed their weird fascist movement they claim is communism? You’d think they’d push for stuff like rank choice voting to try to increase multiple parties, term limits, and government officials afraid of the people and politicians being imprisoned for corruption.
Not some return to a monarchy with a cult of personality they simp over like some slaves who want a master, and giving up the people’s power hoping to believe in the idea of a benevolent dictator. That these tankie figure heads are living lavish lives of luxury while the rest of the society in their so called communist country don’t is ridiculous to me. Just looks like money hungry pigs to me, but they get some scraps and think its communism while their lords live in multiple mansions.
Not to say that LGBT issues in the USSR weren’t more complicated than this meme suggests, but bringing up modern Russia in this context is extremely stupid, as if modern Russia is communist in any real sense of the word.
None the less, tankies still simp for Russia.
Hell yeah!
Though, it was simply decriminalization and later would be re-criminalized under Stalin. Along with it being still a crime in parts of the union the entire time. Still though absolutely wild and quite cool that for about ten years there was some real progress towards acceptance and reasonable dialog about LGBT acceptance. Particularly while looking at the contemporaries.
as you mention contemporaries: poland was a close 2nd though a few years later and unlike all other european countries it hasn’t criminalized it afterwards. :) although poland also hasn’t advanced much from decriminalization yet
It also relaxed a bit after Stalin’s reign ended and until more recently when Putin began oppressing them combined with the shift towards Christianity that Russia experienced after the peak of the cold war. Might just be my perception though, I didn’t hear about it as much.
So, OP’s claim that Lenin “legalized homosexuality entirely” in the USSR is wrong because, as @sorrybookbroke@sh.itjust.works pointed out, it remained illegal in some parts of the USSR, such as Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Therefore, it was never entirely legalized across the entire USSR until Stalin banned it entirely again in 1934. During that decade, homosexuality was only legal in the RSFSR and not because of a standalone law advocating for sexual freedom, but because the Tsarist legal codes were abolished (which also included abolishing the Senate, the Tsarist courts and the private property, which were more likely to be the target of this move) without introducing a specific ban in the new legal code.
So it’s also misleading to claim that homosexuality was legalized like it was an intentional move towards sexual freedom (which Lenin cared very little about with no public record of him on this topic) instead of just the kind of accidental outcome of abolishing the Tsarist legal codes.
Even if everything else were true, the USSR still wouldn’t have been the first country to legalize it in modern history, which was France in 1791.

Homosexuality was the norm in Ancient Greece, right?
Uh, kinda. It was also kinda banned, but it hinged on exactly who, what, and when. Also where, depending on if one was a citizen.
