If the only way an industry could survive is through immigration, it is obvious that there needs to be a legal path for the skilled workers to immigrate. Maybe this should have been considered before the deportation surge.
But I suspect given the sponsors of this legislation that this is unlikely to have a path to citizenship and will amount to indentured servitude.

My understanding was that many farm workers were entirely legal under temporary work programs. Farmers need a flood of additional workers during harvest, that they can’t afford year round, and people in lower income countries can benefit from a month or two of higher pay.
That’s one of the things that seem missing from this conversation. What parts of it work or don’t work? Wouldn’t it have been much cheaper, easier, respect human rights and the law to adjust that where necessary? (But probably needs to include consequences for companies)
How is that program doing? Still allowed? How do farmers expect to handle the work? Are people being terrorized by ice into not participating because they can expect inhumane treatment based on the color of their skin?
They want the “migrant worker” paeudo-slavery thing they do in other parts of the world, where laborers are a separate class of worker which don’t have rights. And by dont have rights, I don’t mean like the current state of affairs where the constitution still applies to undocumented immigrants. They want to codify a separate class of non-rights into law for these people so they can never sue their employer, don’t have a minimum wage, can be charged for housing, etc

Probably the only guy who became president in a very long time to actually have a well thought out immigration policy was George W. Bush (yes, the war criminal) back when he was governor of Texas. He even wanted to implement some of it as president. Unfortunately, he was a dummy, Cheney was a cartoon villain, and 9/11 absolutely derailed any conversations about doing anything that did not involve killing muslims and erroding Americans’ civil liberties.

Few stories I’ve read lately is their ideas are much larger than warehouses, like a 100k person prison, billions of dollars. How this isn’t causing total shutdown of the US by general strike is horrifying as a neighbor. I bet those ones will be surprised when they’re on a list for some reason too, there always needs to be enemies afterall.
i forgot to add, that since warehouses are often poorly ventilated, it will cause extreme temperatures like it gets too hot or too cold. meaning they Intended that the “camps” to kill at least some of the prisoners.
