I tend to agree with Churchill (and the folks whom he’s referencing) that “it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.”
Western democracies (mostly USA, the hegemon) sure did a lot to get the competition out of the way, by overthrowing democratically elected governments in the Global South.
It’s not that i envy chinese or russian citizens, but the reason there is no better alternative (ie. a democracy not owned by the rich) could very well be because western governments stopped them from even trying.
