I hate all religions equally.
Growing up, I somehow expected that after 20-30 years thanks to technological advancements, people would just quit religion en masses/realize no one is protecting us, leading to every religion being hated. Somehow that partly happened with nearly all religions getting hate, even here on Lemmy, except for one - Islam
What’s with this phenomenon? Are they simply a majority?
EDIT: A more correct term would be immune against hate, not getting hate, as hating on Islam in society is basically racism now
FYI this person also advocates for the Palestinian Genocide.
Why are you making shit up? Wtf even is this lmao.
EDIT: Ooh I didn’t even notice the username. Welcome back my good old schizophrenic friend. Forgot the pills again? You were literally the one that defended idea of genocides. I somehow assumed you’d be banned for hate speech by now as I stopped seeing you around constantly calling for violence against groups/races you don’t like
Probably it’s because racists and bigots are islamaphobic and as decent people on Lemmy, we can’t be having that.
You’re literally proving my point. Y’all are shitting on Catholics, Christianity, don’t even get me started on Judaism/Jews/Zionism, but as soon as you say exactly the same thing you say about other religions, but towards Islam, you will trigger thousand white knights and be labelled a racist.
Don’t get me wrong, I pretty much grew out of edginess and don’t bother with insulting any religion, but it’s just an interesting phenomenon I’ve noticed here and on other platforms.
There are several things going on here that you may be conflating.
First, shitting on Catholics/Christianity. Having a valid criticism is not shitting on anything. For instance, Catholics rightfully get a lot of hate for child abuse. Is it wrong to chastise a religion for abusing children when they still are actively covering for abusers to this day. I think that until they actually stop the practice and make reparations that criticism is entirely warranted.
Modern Christians are not very Christ like. People will point out that they are hypocritical and do not like to practice what they preach. In the case of Evangelicals, they just make shit up about gays, transgender, rapture, etc that is not in the Bible at all. They lean heavily on government to promote their bigoted views thus violating basic tenants of church and government separation. They are currently pushing insane bathroom and sports laws that apply to far less than even 1% of the population.
Now what about criticism of Islam. Well first of all it doesn’t often come from a place of understanding like Christian criticism. It often comes from a place of misunderstanding and propaganda. For instance, people will point out things like Sharia Law without understanding what it even is and then misuse the term. For instance, the Democrats want to institute Sharia Law in Texas is a headline I read awhile ago. This, unlike gays and transgender issues, has an extreme impact on people of the Middle East. We are still indiscriminately killing brown people to this day.
For every “white knight” as you put it there are a hundred bigoted black knights. While on Lemmy you may find more of the light variety that is just because Lemmy was founded by leftists and its small decentralized nature lends to more independent thinkers who actually care about things like racism. This may account for your perception that people defend Muslims, but openly attack Christians.
It is too bad you no longer are provocative about religion because people should definitely be questioning and producing deep thoughts about the garbage that all religions, including Islam, spew. We should reject mythology as a governing principle. This is of course my opinion that has been developed after studying several religions for decades.
Having a valid criticism is not shitting on anything.
Sorry, I grew up in Eastern Europe in rather harsh environment and my way of talking tends to sound aggressive or slang-ish. I’m aware of this, yet fail to not do it.
It is too bad you no longer are provocative about religion
I initially had no plans to argument back as I’ve always seen these conversations pointless and mine-fielded, but okay;
For instance, Catholics rightfully get a lot of hate for child abuse.
What is the story of Aisha? Why is marrying a child core part of religious teachings in Islam? Why are Muslim countries on average having lower age of consent (ie. Iran - 13)? Look up child abuse in Islamic/Quranic schools. The interesting thing is, unlike western world with million cameras, microphones, bloggers and free media, those places are not like that, so whatever you hear here is probably going down in ME too, except hush hush - https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0145213424006288
In the case of Evangelicals, they just make shit up about gays, transgender, rapture, etc
So what does Islam say about LGBT and sinners?
They lean heavily on government to promote their bigoted views thus violating basic tenants of church and government separation
“Islamic State” and “Islamic revolution”.
For every “white knight” as you put it there are a hundred bigoted black knights
Not denying, but this feels like a logical fallacy argument - reflecting/whataboutism, which plays nicely with my initial argument.
All my arguments are essentially pointing out that same things you use as arguments against other religions pretty much always work against Islam.
Ahh Yes, I can see the anti-Muslim sentiment in you which makes sense.
Abrahamic religions are some of the most destructive on our planet. Because you have not spent much time discussing these things you are engaging in a tit for tat.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abrahamic_religions
I don’t have a dog in this fight so to speak.
I missed you initial argument, can you restate your premise?
Islam as in the Quran does not say anything about LGBT. Just like the Evangelicals, the Muslin faith has many sects that like to fill in the blanks. This is where LGBT persecution comes from in both religions.
Your final statement is very suspect. This is not a game to see which religion was worse because I can assure you Christians are equal in death and destruction to Muslims in history and in modern times they hold no equal.
This is not a game to see which religion was worse because I can assure you Christians are equal in death and destruction to Muslims in history and in modern times they hold no equal.
You’re starting to understand. So close, yet you still said my arguments are anti-muslim sentiment, not anti-religion, which ironically proves my initial argument, which you still don’t fully understand. That’s fine/understandable/expected.
About LGBT stuff - you’re thinking of unofficial statements and interpretations, not what the teachings or religious leaders say.

You had obviously been waiting to unload your anti-muslim sentiment. I understand that. I also see that you were basically complaining you can’t talk shit about Muslims, lamenting your inability to talk shit because the community would shut you down.
Where is your Christian criticism if you are actually anti-religious and not just anti-muslim?
You can guess where I am going with this which is what your original comment provoked.
If I see Nazis being anti-semitic then I would call that out as well. But nazis are all christo-fascists so you barely even see any attacks on christians or catholics
The GOP is a racist political party, so…yeah.
All going according to plan (Project 2025)
Did you know that there is a book called 2025? Released in 1997.

Part of me thinks dear leaders flubs are a distraction from project 2025 happening quietly in the back.
