So the husband gets one life sentence for doing it, and the wife gets seven life sentences for allowing it?

They both deserve life in prison, but why did the actual perpetrator get a lesser sentence?

I assume its what they could prove. Dad raped kid obvious guilt provable by paternity test if any question. Proving neglect was probably harder if daughter was in mom’s care mostly.

The headline: oh that sounds horrible.

The description on this post: even worse than I thought it would be.

The article: not a single picture of the husband, who is also serving a life sentence. I wanna see what that mistake of a person looks like.

If it’s America, I get it. $20,000 for a hospital birth. And, if you don’t pay, they take your house.

A 34-year-old Oklahoma mother will spend the rest of her life behind bars for allowing her husband to impregnate her 11-year-old daughter, then forcing the child to give birth at home without any medical care.

I did not read the whole article, but I suspect the lack of medical care had less to do with saving money than with hiding her involvement in the rape of her own daughter.

I hear people say Oklahoma is the most free state in the union, and yet they won’t let you rape your own child and force her to give birth? That’s not the America my ancestors had nothing to do with building.

Yep, the news from the Oklahoma Oblast no longer surprises me. Certainly the Orange Pedo Shitstain will pardon the sick bastards because that is why he is mentioned over 38,000 times in a certain set of files.

Jesus, that’s a bad headline. She wasn’t sentenced for the home birth; she was sentenced for her part and cover-up of her husband raping and impregnating their daughter. The lack of proper medical care is just part of the cover-up.

It’s why they act like boots are so delicious. Not because they enjoy licking boots but because they see it as a necessary downside to a hierarchy existing that gives them full power over what they see as their domain. It might be their household, their land, their business, their social group.

It’s why they get so upset at the idea of someone sharing information and think everyone should mind their own business (eg when cheating). It’s behind the “no snitching” mindset (though that one also has a dose of “not all laws are just” and my personal pov is that it is right to inform to help someone being hurt but it is not right to inform to hurt someone who is breaking some law without a real victim or a “victim” that themselves are hurting people but through legal means, which is why I hate thieves but don’t care about shoplifters at big chains). Though there’s also a tribalism aspect to that, where it’s acceptable to expose some cases of cheating if your loyalty to the victim should be higher than to the cheater, in their mind at least. And for some reason the idea that their own values can determine that loyalty others give them breaks their mind (eg “BuT fAmilY!” or “bUt <cheater> waS yOUr frIeNd fIIIrst!”).

It’s a worldview that puts power above everything else, while the left cares more about how power is used with an emphasis on justice. And the reason that it’s an eternal conflict is that neither side are objectively wrong. Those with the most power do make the rules and can even break those rules because one needs power to enforce them. But also if the majority puts aside their own lust for power and works together for each other, than can overpower the powerful individuals and rule for justice instead of their own greed. But even then, opportunists will always be seeking their own power.

          This is sad, but true.

At my first teaching job, a first-grader told her teachers and the principal that the bruises on her legs were from her mom hitting her with a belt. We reported it to Child Protective Services, and when they followed up, the mom pulled her out of school to “homeschool” her instead.

Covering up physical abuse is one of many reasons why homeschooling needs more oversight.

He got 87 years, a life sentence plus 42 years, consecutively. His life sentence won’t even begin until he’s been in prison for 42 years.

Presidential pardons can’t touch state-level convictions, only federal. That said, there’s nothing stopping the Oklahoma governor from issuing a pardon…

      Less?

Walker’s husband, Dustin Joel Walker, already received a life sentence after pleading guilty earlier this year to one count of sexual abuse of a child under 12 and six counts of child neglect.

King sentenced the father to life in prison plus 42 years, ordering him to serve the 42-year sentence before beginning the life term.

You’re right, I missed the “seven consecutive” life sentences part. I hope they’re not served at all concurrently somehow (though ‘consecutive’ would seem to indicate not), just because.

Life with parole is effectively figured as 45 years in Oklahoma. So with the consecutive sentencing that’s an effective figure of 87 years for parole computations.

You want to home school? No problem. Just need to make sure your home is up to the same standards as regular school.

      • Teacher with a master’s degree (depending on state)
      • ADA compliant with wheelchair access (so the inspectors can get in if they’re in a wheelchair of course!)
      • Kid still needs to take the same standardized exams as every other kid at the school.
      • Everyone in the home has to be up to date on vaccinations.
      • Everyone in the home must undergo a thorough background check.
      • Regular welfare visits since the child can’t be regularly observed by state employees five days a week.

Sadly, the state of the US educational standards have been in decay for decades, as well as the premises. More rational parents are turning to homeschooling and demanding curricula that is better than evangelical scams.

i grew up homeschooled with extreme abuse, and have been saying this for years. i have gotten a surprising amount of pushback for it, even by friends who i consider progressive. it’s strange

oh, and the adult administering the curriculum must be licensed to teach in that state and keep up with licensing. (my mom had the equivalent of a self taught 3rd grade level education)

I think this mainly comes down to the fact that abusive and manipulative men like this actively seek out women who will do what they say and enable their predatory behaviors.
