Exactly this! I am so glad I got introduced to lemme, which funny enough was recommended through Reddit. I am curious to how the mods are responding. “Hey you guys go to Lemmy which is an alternative to Reddit and way better.”

One thing I just noticed about this place is that posts get a lot of engagement, but there aren’t a ton of posts. That means there are a lot of lurkers, but not enough posters.

So if you just came here from reddit, start posting!

There are lurkers but many of the active commenters are frankly just more active in voting and commenting. Lemmy has much more engagement than Reddit for commenters because it’s a small community and the way comments are default sorted. You don’t need to make a comment early to end up on the top of the thread. You just need to get about two up votes and it’ll put you at the top. If what you said is worthwhile then you’ll get a lot more after that

Edit: one of the benefits of this is it encourages high quality late comments. On Reddit those would largely get ignored, but here engagement like that is encouraged.

OF bots are currently concentrating using money(buying specific proxies ip services, new devices, multiple anti-detection browsers on evading reddits bans currently.

Start subscribing to communities across instances - it will drastically improve your feed quality and the overall Fediverse at the same time.

In the Fediverse, note that when you hit “All or New” you’re only seeing the instances that people on your server have already subscribed to at a previous point in time. By subscribing to new communities on separate instances, you’re opening a gateway for other users on the server to start discovering it as well.

its not the servers or the domain name that makes reddit valuable, its us the people. we are what bring value to their platform. may freedom of speech live on ✊

No for-real, just came from Reddit as well, and so far this app is pretty amazing.

I have the voyager on iOS, which I assume is the only provider for this Lemmy. When this phone dies out I will be switching to android and I’ll just have to shop around. So far I am very very impressed with the UI and the application itself.

I’m also using Voyager on android. There are other apps, like Sync if you had used it for reddit. There are dozens of apps and instances you can use, so if there’s ever anything you don’t like, you can probably find an alternative.

Is Sync only for android? I only see voyager as the only app for iOS/iPhone users. And if I was to switch to android is it only through apk or are there multiple applications that you can use for Lemme on google play store?

I’m not an iOS user, but I checked the app store website and I can see several apps. Voyager, mlem, Arctic, Thunder, Avelon, Echo to name a few.

Not sure what you mean by ‘only apk’, every android app is an apk. That’s what the play store distributes too. But yes, there are several options on Google Play as well. Voyager, Sync, Connect, Boost, Summit, Eternity, Thunder, Jerboa, Raccoon, etc.

I personally have tried more than half of those, and every one has some design aspects that I dislike, but I settled on Voyager for now. Still hoping that the Rif developer ports their old reddit app

Awe thank your LordCrom much appreciated. I am still learning and seeing how to maneuver through this app. Trying to whisper to a couple of my friends that there’s an app better than Reddit, and to join us.

My Reddit account got permabanned because I replied to someone saying that scientists should open up their brain to study it. This cartoon suggestion was apparently a horrific violent threat.

Reddit is just gonna be bots by the end of the year

the filters took it literally, i assume you meant figuratively. I was banned in some of my accts for similar misconstrued statements.

I used react.dev to change all of my posts to say “[date] As per the legal owner of this account, Reddit and associated companies no longer have permission to use the content created under this account in any way.”

I figured it sounds like something a lawyer would tell me to put. Just checked and my old posts still say that.

Though interestingly there was a silly fan theory I posted there that some shit entertainment media sites linked to and when I first changed the posts those sites were displaying that message. I’ve checked again and somehow they have the text from my post on there now. So that’s pretty weird.

was banned early last month, because r/technology was filled with trump news and i was reporting obvious misinformation, the site said you cant report other people like that, and i was banned. depending on the sub, there is a very vague way of reporting people.

Is there a particular subreddit that is spiteful towards the word Luigi? I’m going to try saying Loo-E-G and see what happens. Perhaps the bots won’t recognize the phonic resemblance.
