Just got my ban for saying how Luigi is my favorite super marios brother. Like on the racing ones, how accurate he can dome someone with a turtle shell. And he is insanely fast. Like dude can go from one side of the map to the other in speeds unexplainable.

rm -rfthe whole fucking thing already.Clearly they’re pissed that people are still using the site. They’ve made efforts to stop it by making shit redesigns, releasing a shitty app, user profiles, shutting off the API and trying to force people to use their shit app.
They must be seething that people are still using it and they’ve found a new way to try to get people to stop. Of course, they could shut the site down, but these are execs we’re talking about - their forté is ignoring every elephant in the room and then creating “solutions” that completely miss the problem.
They’re in the business of selling “organic” content to AI companies, but those AI companies don’t want advertiser-unfriendly language in their datasets.
Advertisors are dumb as fuck. Like, clearly if their datasets contain language that is not “advertisor friendly” then who the fuck are they trying to advertise to?
“Wow, all of society is doing this stuff. But this isn’t very friendly. The people doing that stuff certainly wouldn’t like if we advertised the stuff they’re doing!”

All major websites are censoring language and content that could even remotely be construed as adult-friendly or “harmful”; the fact so many US states are outright banning porn sites (I know it’s like a hydra, but the point still stands); the entire world is sliding right back into fascism; I even feel like Hollywood is stepping away from things like violence and vulgarity.
It’s all a fucking sham and I fucking hate it. Let us swear; let us jack off to the weird shit we want to jack off too; just let people be people.
Why does there have to be a small but extremely powerful subset of people who can run the entire world and dictate what the rest of us can and can’t do?

And it’s not just the conservatives. The self-identified progressive places do it too.
The thing about the puritans were that they had harsh rules that existed to try to keep their flock from sinning. They failed as such things always fail.
A good example of a common practice from the time was that part of the pay of a young man working on another mans farm was the bed of their eldest daughter at night. It made identifying the father of the child easier.This one practice alone made the puritans a lot more rational than this current cancer on society.

When would that have been? Humanity never was puritan and it never will be. The UK were and some hicks in their former colonies think they still are but humanity or civilisation are not limited to the area between Texas and Alaska. Actually It has barely arrived there.
They have some warped idea of what the past was like and want to drag us back to a time that never was. A time when you couldn’t even show married couples in the same bed on TV.

I mean none of those other policies affected me. When APIs were removed there was much more bot spam but I muted thousands of subreddits and it was acceptable.

Why would they? Ineffectual protests with disparate, unclear goals. More useful to keep them so there’s at least a harmless resistance to redirect energy toward.

I couldn’t find that immediately on their site but Wikipedia told me it’s:

Agreed. And I want groups like this to succeed. But we need a single, easily digestible message that can encompass all of these issues under one roof. That issue, imo, is wealth inequality. But now it all comes down to phrasing. It’s an issue that isn’t hard to get people on board with if, and only if, we are careful with messaging and branding. I wish I was joking, but that’s the world we live in. Not the one where I demand everything, get nothing, and keep being frustrated that it never changes. It’s time to adapt or continue the cycle of losing.
I don’t think phrasing is the problem. I think the problem is a lack of leaders willing to stand behind it. Democrats are trying to pander to rich people while simultaneously tapping into the anger at rich people and that just comes off as disingenuous at best. I think voters will turn out if we give them a reason to. I think Democrats know that too and that’s why they fight harder to stop progressives from gaining influence than they do to curb the existing influence of the rich.
It sounds like they are against the current administration. These are all of the things that were negative impacted by them.
Ok but this is the problem I think occupy wall street had. They were protesting the right people, getting attention, but consistently the messaging was vaguely gestures the system, Wall Street, bankers. We can speculate why that messaging wasn’t clear or didn’t get out, but we have an opportunity right now to correct that mistake.
So what do you suggest the correct message should be for 50501?
Don’t worry, they’ll be on the chopping block. But the good thing is the group is everywhere. They are on Substack, as well as here on this app. But they are a very small group, and they are aware that they’ll be next so they posted on Reddit to everyone that they exist on Lemmy which is how I got introduced to this app.
they are probably flagged, on thin ice. but conservative probably wont even touch the sub, because the cons will just flood other subs and cry about it.

Thanks whomever got a post about this place to hit the front Reddit page. I was on Mastadon and Substack and bluesky and hadnt even heard about this.
It’s a real shame. There is a treasure trove of information on there for niche topics, and years of researching problems and questions etc. It really sucks that it’s gotten to this point.
Since ~2014 I would search reddit before google for information. I’m sure as traffic picks up here it will become a better source.
I’ve only been here a couple weeks myself and the amount of new users has skyrocketed in the last week from what ive seen.
I do miss some of the niche subs over there , some of them are here too but not nearly as much engagement…yet
