  • That’s just simply objectively not true, and US global economic sanctions have killed over 28 million people in the last fifty years alone, according to the Lancet.

Soviet people’s democracy was radically democratic in a way that no bourgeoise parliamentary democracy ever has been or ever could be. A cursory understanding of the origins and history of US ‘democracy’ makes it clear how completely absurd the notion is. The government is a committee for managing the affairs of the rich, and it has been since the very first moment that the worthy businessmen of the colonies gathered in each others mansions to split the profits of their stolen lands and conspire on how to keep the working class under control. The people of the United States have never decided a single thing in all of history, and the people of its subjugated colonies and vassal states have never even had the luxury of participating in its sham electoral pageantry.

There has never been a more brutally authoritarian, bloodsoaked nation than the United States, and the USSR is not only not close, is not only the opposite, but its violent dismemberment and the carving up of its society and economy by the US worldwide secret police actually did kill tens of millions of people - 16.9 million excess deaths by 2019 in fact, again according to the Lancet.

Furthermore, here is a map of the 1991 referendum on whether to keep the USSR

As you can see, an overwhelming supermajority of the population were in favor of keeping the Union together. However, Boris Yeltsin’s CIA-aided, illegal dissolution of the USSR was forced through with extreme violence, during which over two thousand counter-protesters were killed - including members of the state parliament, the democratically elected body that tried to stop him!

Here's the House of Soviets after Yeltsin ordered tanks to open fire on it after the parliament impeached him and tried to block his illegal dissolution of the Union.

But we were talking about Germany, so did you know? A higher proportion of judges and government ministers were (‘former’) members of the Nazi party in 1973, than the proportion of active Nazis in the Third Reich in 1943? Did you know the first head of NATO, Adolf Heusinger, was Hitler’s Chief of Staff? Or how about that West Germany had a social club for Wehrmacht soldiers that had invaded Africa.

    Here's their badge!

The Nazis didn’t lose the war except where the USSR got to them, everywhere else they were seamlessly integrated back into the western financial capitalist empire from which they had spawned. Lebensraum was inspired by Manifest Destiny and paid for by British and US banks. And now, US state media gets to come along, point at the results of their brutal political intervention, of their pet reactionaries trying to erase the history of a previous brutal military intervention, and by implication blame it on the nation they destroyed.

  • CNN using ‘East German’ in the headline as if East Germany still exists and is somehow to blame for this is incredibly cynical.

You know who wouldn’t have let this happen? The German Democratic Republic. But its forcible annexation into the Nazi successor state next door, resulting in its flooding with capitalist propaganda even as the quality of life collapsed under shock doctrine, is why there is such a resurgence of far-right politics in the east. Once again, the forcible, antidemocratic destruction of communism in Europe by the US Empire reveals itself as one of the greatest disasters in history.

  • Would you consider hundreds of murders (of mainly the majority population of Xinjiang, which is... Uyghurs) in terrorist attacks by extremists of US/Saudi exported Wahabbism to be a crime?

How about being literally part of Al Quaeda and ISIS?

Oh wait that’s fine now, see the new Western-installed tyrant of Syria. Did you know he still had a multi-million dollar State Department bounty when he visited the White House?

How about a direct comparison with the tender mercies of the West

And before you complain, the ''''''''''East Turkestan'''''''''' ''''''''''Government in exile'''''''''' thinks it's a perfect analogy... though probably not in the way you imagine

Basically your imperial secret police (the CIA, MI6 etc.) tried to inject Saudi-style extremism into an Islamic culture it was alien to, that culture was defended by the most successful and least violent deradicalization campaign conducted anywhere ever, and when your loser death cult FAILED they switched to whining about it in your imperial propaganda rags. But it’s too late idiot! The Uyghurs are safe from you, they have education and jobs and high speed rail. Do you have high speed rail?

Oh yeah, you’re from the UK, why don’t you tell me about Shamima Begum.

  • It’s about the adventures of the Joestar (yes, “Joe-Star”) family across the course of multiple generations, with each part - more-or-less self-contained series, of which there are now nine in manga, six of which have finished anime adaptations and the seventh of which is coming out at the moment - following a different descendant of the original main character, Jonathan Joestar, as they fight various supernatural forces of evil across the world.

The first part was written in the 80s and is in some ways a parody of certain manga coming out at the time, mainly Fist of the North Star, but it develops into so much more. I definitely recommend watching the anime, the first two parts are adapted into a single 26 episode series that should give you the flavor of what to expect with the rest. The next part is almost double the length at 48 episodes, and some consider it a bit of a slog in the middle, but it’s still very good. Then the next three series, the adaptations of parts 4, 5 and 6, are extremely good and have maybe some of the best episodes of anime I’ve seen. Part 7 is coming out now and looks to be equally as good, although hamstrung by Netflix’s Bizarre release schedule.

It’s a big commitment to watch all of it, but as a whole it’s probably one of my favorite animes.

  • Here’s supporters of the neo-Nazi Russian Volunteer Corps chanting “Ukraine Above All” at the Russian opposition rally in the center of Berlin

Here’s Ilya Bogdanov, a member of the Russian Volunteer Corps who previously fought with the Right Sector and received Ukrainian citizenship in 2015

Yes, Russia has Nazis, and they fight for Ukraine

Here’s a map of votes in the 2010 presidential election. As you can see, the south and east heavily favor Viktor Yanukovych, the man who was violently and undemocratically deposed by violent far-right extremists in 2014.

Their first act on taking power was to ban Russian from being used in official documents or being taught in schools. Here’s a map of language spoken in Ukraine.

You can see why this might be a problem for a certain region. In response to the suppression of their language as well as violent ethnic cleansing, the eastern regions formed militias including sections of the AFU from that region. The Kiev regime then declared these militias defending their homes to be ‘terrorists’ and began the ‘anti-terror operations’ in which fascist paramilitaries repeatedly assaulted the Russian speaking regions, fighting the eastern militias and terrorizing Russian-speaking civilians (who, it must be stressed, were still citizens of Ukraine).

in the east Europe we really don’t want to get back to soviet era

Then you’re stupid or propagandized or both. The destruction of the USSR was one of the worst tragedies in history and every part of the eastern bloc suffered catastrophically because of it, with many regions having millions upon millions of excess deaths in the 90s due to the obliteration of their economies by western vulture capitalists.

In Russia, the situation only stabilized once Putin closed Russia’s open veins and offered the west a more reasonable quantity of Russian blood at a time, in exchange for getting to take part in global imperialism. Thankfully the EU and US were too fucking greedy and racist to consider Russians human, so Putin has been forced into an anti-imperialist position despite his best efforts to negotiate a peace deal in Ukraine for EIGHT YEARS.

And it was STILL only when the Ukrainians kept violently bombing Donetsk and Luhansk in violation of the ceasefire that he finally got a fucking clue and sent some troops to stop the genocide once and for all.

“putin is nice and liberal and cool”

HAHAHAHAHAHA, I am a COMMUNIST, I hate liberals and Putin categorically is one. He is a true believer in neoliberal economics, a true believer in the free market, and he could have blended seamlessly into any EU summit (and desperately, desperately tried to) if the Euros weren’t so filled with Hitlerite racism against Russians - and their imperial master, the US, didn’t demand to be the only one selling them gas. And enforce that demand with a certain bomb on a certain pipeline.

  • Russia joined the Ukrainian civil war on the morally correct side

Which the CIA said was going to happen if NATO kept expanding back in 2009

Putin is just about the most liberal man in Russia, his politics are indistinguishable from Angela Merkel. If he was ever deposed you would find out what a real hardliner looks like. The Russian people’s biggest complaint about him is that he’s too soft and too willing to suck up to the west, and this war could have been avoided entirely if he intervened in 2014 and restored Ukraine’s democratically elected government - but he didn’t, because he and his oligarch friends so desperately want to export gas and minerals to Europe that they believed every lie that the satanically racist EU and US told them.

  • Look, it’s all love. I don’t want to murder them with my nuclear bomb that I have (my possession of which must be what’s warranting this level of concern from you) I just recognize that for our species to have a future on this planet they’re all gonna need to either be put in prison until they can be taught to value human life, or else be killed.

As for the hypothetical harm to the hypothetical civilians in the hypothetical scenario where I hypothetically have a nuclear bomb, I hope you have the same level of outrage about the real civilians in Gaza that the RAF has provided over 50% of the reconnaissance overflights for, to help Israel more efficiently massacre them using drones built with UK components.
