  • Believing in God is about as realistic as believing the world is flat.

That is a bad comparison IMO. We have piles and piles of hard evidence the Earth is round. Saying the Earth is flat is just factually incorrect at this point.

But the existence of God. I would argue we have no hard evidence of God’s existence nor do we have hard evidence that God doesn’t exist. As far as science is concerned it is still a theory.

On top of that what makes a god a God there are multiple definitions of a God. If simulation theory is correct and we are all just in a simulation would be people outside of the simulation be our Gods? Or if an extremely advanced civilization existed would they be Gods to us? Or If we as humans advanced enough could we become Gods our self.

  • That is a hard one, honestly as someone who has been health all of their life I don’t think I can comprehend what your going though and can’t put myself in your shoes.

Sorry this will be the most boring answer but personally I would spend my final days with my family and friends. I don’t think it really matters what I do with them. We could go on a trip or say home and binge watch a TV show, go out to eat play video games whatever.

I do think I would continue to try and figure out what is wrong with me. I am naturally curious and want to try and fix things or at least figure out the cause. I would probably grab a Steam Deck and play some games at the hospital. Kill two birds one stone.

  • I hate ads as much as the next guy, but without ads get ready to start paying for things. You go to a news website, sorry you need to login and hand over your credit card to access anything. Youtube? Sorry you need to login and pay up to watch anything. You want to Google,Bing, Duckduckgo something sorry you better pay up can’t sell you data to advertisers anymore.

Not saying this is necessarily a bad thing but it will fundamentally change how the internet works and it potentially could limit informational access to poor people.

  • Do people not understand social media is the 2023 version of a community public square?

I see posting a comment or voting like shouting your comments and votes in a public square. I see no reason to expect privacy in this settings.

Your shouting in a public square and then upset that people heard you and potentially recorded you?

Sure I would agree deleting something on Lemmy has a higher risk of not actually being deleted everywhere. But again it is a public forum. Nothing is stopping anyone from keeping a record of what you said. How many people have deleted a controversial/drama filled post only to have screenshots of it posted later by third-partys?

As long as you can delete the original it is basically like any other public forum. The original is deleted any other copies are kind of out of your control. Yeah it sucks but such is life anything digital can be copied so be careful what you create.
