I wonder when American and English diverged on the meaning of pants, because it very much means underwear over here. Although with how prevalent American TV is (and I guess influencers are these days) people have no problem understanding what you mean… But we’ll have a laugh over it!

Games@sh.itjust.works•What game did you hate even after sinking a lot of time into it?English
0·2 months agoI never really stayed in one map for too long but now that you’ve mentioned it I do recall thinking things were taking too long to respawn during some specific mon grinding.
Z-A has definitely fixed this with more intuitive respawn mechanics, but it’s got much more of a focus on battling and less on collecting this time around, so it isn’t for everyone. Much more fun than the main series has been in a while though!

0·2 months agoI agree with this so much - the end of act 2 was such a narrative high I was excited to see how they topped it!
And then they didn’t. And then I stopped levelling. It wasn’t the climax to the story I was expecting.
I always struggled to describe what was so disappointing but you hit the nail on the head. Starting act 3 felt like I was sent in time back to act 1 - aimlessly wandering around the map until finally stumbling across the next main story point.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•MMO Hype Train: Is it smart or foolish for upcoming MMOs to embrace hardcore attitudes?English
0·5 months agoAs a casual player I’ve never found an MMO that interests me, so catering to a hardcore audience isn’t a bad idea.
They’ve always felt like “single player games but you need help to defeat a bullet sponge every so often”. I’m sure being a part of a guild makes these segments great but when you’re a new player on your own they feel unapproachable.
I’d love to play a multiplayer game where players contribute to a developing story rather than repeat the same one everyone else has done. Obviously that’s a ton of work so I’m not surprised it doesn’t exist.

0·7 months agoThe Pokémon Company is a joint venture between Nintendo, GameFreak and Creatures Inc. Control of TPC is what people mean when they say Nintendo/GameFreak “own” 30%.
The story behind the trio is an interesting read, and IIRC Creatures is like wholly owned by Nintendo anyway so they technically have majority control of TPC.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Todd Howard says 'Fallout 5 will be existing in a world where the stories and events of the show happened or are happening'English
0·10 months agoI tried playing fallout 76 when it launched. I care about story or having fun with friends, and it failed on both fronts spectacularly.
It didn’t offer any of the interactive story that I was expecting from (having watched) the previous entries because you were forced to play on a server, but it also didn’t commit to co-op content because you might not have friends.
What a waste.
A nat 20 is the best outcome that the character could manage in that situation, if they have no chance of succeeding then the DM should not be letting them roll. If the barbarian suggests mauling a delicate machine with their mace it’s down to anyone else in the party (or the DM if they’re so inclined) to remind them that actions have consequences.

0·1 year agoAww man, the memories of making a garden base for Botania outside my friend’s Thaumcraft witch tower, across a river where your could see a Buildcraft quarry running next to someone’s industrial complex… Good times!
Tried playing Cobblemon with the idea to make our own themed towns but just like you there doesn’t seem to be time for it anymore :(

0·1 year agoFor just having fun with friends nothing else comes close. It’s not the best at every thing it does, but it does them all well enough and in one place, for free.
It really shouldn’t be used in the way big projects try to. There aren’t moderation tools to help with managing huge numbers of people, and like you said the threads and forums features aren’t really user friendly.

FFS. I’ve been trying to avoid engaging with politics on lemmy but every time I learn about something good Labour’s done (renter’s rights, recycling changes) they announce something stupid to compensate (mandatory age verification, this and whatever the hell “AI” nonsense they’re doing).
I’m just so tired, man.

0·1 year agoI’ve also been waiting to start this series for a long time, when this announced I was blown away by how it looked and knew I had to give it a go.
I’ve sunk hours into the demo (which went on for way longer than I thought it would have!) and had a lot of fun, so I’m super excited to start my slow but steady playthough!

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Randy Pitchford Snaps Back at Borderlands 4 Criticism: 'Code Your Own Engine'English
0·1 year agoIt’s an engine that puts everyone else before programmers - which is great for artists and designers as they can blueprint animations and simple things. It’s bad however when the performance relies on programmers whose time is already torn between trying to do things The Unreal Way™️ and fixing bugs caused by someone doing more than they should have in one big and messy blueprint hotpot.

0·1 year agoMan I haven’t been on Hypixel Skyblock in ages! It was really fun being there for all the community moments back when Technoblade was rocking the server.
Unfortunately the grind got too much so I ended up stopping playing and instead spending time helping out on Skyblock Addons. But once new content was locked behind skills rather than items it became impossible to work on new features, so that was my sign to leave.

0·1 year agoThank you for taking the time to share your insight, it’s definitely worth doing things right rather than rushed. I guess I’m a bit panicked by how fast things went downhill across the pond, but that’s probably just social media’s American bias shoving it in my face so much.
If this is done properly it could very well be what we need. I’ll hold on to hope.

0·1 year agoIt’s good to hear they’ve put a soft deadline on it, but I can’t help but think it’s wasted time when they could be building recognition with the average person. I hope I’m worrying over nothing.

I’d given up on owning a home because all the first time buyer schemes cap out at prices that are unreasonable if you’re unfortunate enough to live in the south, so I’m really hoping this scheme will take that into account!
