  • There definitely needs to be a social pressure to drop discord, I propose that there needs to be some level of social stigma around using or liking discord. Like for example if someone says they prefer discord or like its look and features and promote people to verify or even buy Discord Nitro, call them a discord bro or similar negative quip (we can find the names and phrases in due time). If that sounds too harsh consider that if someone said they like to use chatGPT and prefer to use it, a lot of people would call them AI bros for that. It isn’t much different. Social stigma is a powerful motive. Especially for creators and for platforms where PR is of utmost importance.

Like if Discord usage is stigmatized we can go from discord API logins on community sites and projects to them never even acknowledging discord exists. That’s what will drive change, not inconvenience, not privacy violations by discord, or even good intentions on their part. Shame that loses people’s respect for them.

  • A lot of apps and most games out there are 32 bit and need 32 bit support, trying to pull an Apple is naturally going to be unpopular and unproductive. This is one of those things about Linux and Linux development which is inherently problematic, which is the seemingly severe aversion to legacy support, despite the fact that Linux is often praised for running on older, less capable hardware, as well as taking better advantage of current gen hardware.

I don’t even know why this is even being discussed, it’s an awful idea and should never be implemented.

  • A lot of the posts to the /lgbt/ board (some people refer to it as /tttt/ for certain reasons) are self-hatred posts, also most of the people who post there are nasty people who have been banned from other spaces for gatekeeping or attacking other queer people i.e. Transmedicalists, and Nonbinary exclusionists (people who don’t believe that Nonbinary people are valid at all).

So yeah I do think there is a lot of cognitive dissonance in people posting there, either people who hate themselves and feel the hate is justified, or people who think they’re the only real gay or trans people and everyone else outside their group is posing. Basically, either extemely misguided, or extremely nasty people.
