I don’t think that’s necessarily an issue, it’s powerful enough to play AAA titles. The price is the biggest issue at the moment, and it’s not really valve’s fault that pc parts are skyrocketing in price.

It’s a console-like form factor, and is pretty powerful. Most people I know, especially the ones interested in the steam machine, are intimidated by / don’t feel they have the time and knowledge needed to build a PC yourself. I see this less as a device intended for PC users/power users, and more targeted towards people leaving console ecosystems. It seems like a really good device for that, too.

Given it’s not including competitive multiplayer, I’d be surprised if they included anti-cheat in this release.

Essentially - people who claim overpopulation is killing the planet, therefore we need to remove the undesirables to fix it. I wouldn’t argue it’s the most common position.

I just… Don’t care. I bought horizon zero dawn, thought it wasn’t good, and never even finished it. I haven’t bothered with any of their other single player pc releases. There’s so many good games already out on PC.

Yes, I that’s because it’s a horror game

People do in fact, still manage to cheat on consoles. Also, a locked down ecosystem for games is very far from a solution and comes with many of it’s own drawbacks.

As someone else here already said, the desktop market isn’t where they make their money. Licenses for enterprise computing is where they make their money, and until we see most major businesses ditching windows entirely, we won’t see them worried.

I think once you’re into concepts like a “stack”, you’re working with very niche specific software that most users will never touch. And absolutely, use what fulfills your needs. The vast majority of people I know that ever use a computer, just use it as google chrome. Web browsers work great in Linux. Depending on your needs, a lot of creative software works great on Linux too.

Denuvo notably impacts both the performance and long term preservation of games. I imagine many people might buy a game, then download the cracked version without denuvo just for the performance gain.
What would you consider a modern example of a “woke” game?

Idk man, I’ve enjoyed many a game at 30 fps. 60 is my general target but acting like it’s a minimum to have a fun time is ridiculous.

Not everyone finds realism in games as the desired end goal of videogame graphics, and historically stylized graphics age better.

That’s a separate issue from what I’m having. It only doesn’t work on my verizon cell service. Unfortunately it makes stoat not an option for me.

Yeah, I get “address not found” regardless of browser. I’ll probably be keeping a closer eye on fluxer.

Stoat, both its app and website refuse to open on my mobile data. I doubt it’s only happening to me. Teamspeak at least lets people host and have control of their own servers.

Another point, I am against purchasing the switch 2, as I am any new device using rechargeable lithium ion batteries. A large amount of the supply chain is mined via slave labor in Congo, and there’s not a good way to determine if it was or wasn’t. Better to use the device you already have.

I see where you’re coming from, but I think this attitude is rather shortsighted. Emulation is about much more than piracy, and I for example, run my switch library on my pc. I have my switch, and it’s essentially a game dumping device because I have such a better experience running those games on an emulator. Why should I spend money on another switch or a switch 2 to still have a worse experience than I’m getting now? Modding my games is easy, I can use and rebind any controller I want, and run most of my games without having to swap to another device. I also care about the long term preservation of my games, and unfortunately my switch won’t last forever, it’s already in rough shape as is. As far as switch 2, work on emulation now is going to make the preservation of their games long term possible. Emulating switch 2 doesn’t mean you don’t own one, or purchase your games, not by default. Ultimately though, even if someone pirates their games for switch 2, Nintendo is fine monetarily. They’ll be okay.

As a hobby, go in without expectations. Share the games you like, talk about things you find interesting. As a small streamer you won’t get a lot of viewership right away, but don’t worry about it. As long as you’re having fun that’s what matters.
If she absolutely needs desktop microsoft office, you can always consider trying winapps. It runs a full windows VM but makes the applications show up on the linux desktop like they were native applications. https://github.com/winapps-org/winapps
