  • If you just vibe AI, it will lull you into thinking you’re doing great.

    1. Define what successful AI usage looks like and include metrics and measurements — include AI usage in your story/ticketing system.
    2. Define parameters for usage. Will it write documentation? Write tests? Write functions? Classes? Whole features? Will it review code? How are you making sure everyone understands the new code (i.e. you don’t want devs committing code they don’t understand or reviewers passing it)
    3. How will you reign in costs? I had 3 devs spend over $1500 (each) in thirty days and am in the process of a explaining this to my COO. Purchasing plans instead of using API keys gives you some natural boundaries for reigning in costs.
    4. Create standard processes. Don’t vibe. Have a standard for how your AI-facing documentation is structured. Have standards/templates for how prompts are structured. Have standard prompts with limited scope for specific tasks. For example have a prompt just for review that specifies to review from the standpoint of security and best practices.

  • I have 85 people blocked. Most of them for spamming, probably. The rest for harshing my mellow by aggressively being assholes to others or just because I’ve realized my personal experience is more pleasant with their absence.

I don’t owe my attention to anyone. I see lots of comments here about refusing to censor alternate points of view, but that’s not it. I can enjoy healthy disagreement, but some folks make some agenda their entire identity and I just get tired of them constantly injecting it into every conversation.

On the other hand there’ve been many people I’ve disagreed with, engaged with, found some common ground, and continue to enjoy their presence even knowing we don’t see eye to eye. Or, if they post about other things, I just ignore the rants I disagree with. It’s not filtering out points of view, it’s filtering out people whose presence makes Lemmy a source of stress rather than an interesting, vibrant community. That’s obviously very subjective, but it’s my block list and my peace of mind.

  • Oh to be clear it was a complete scam. I mean it would’ve been. And I would’ve known from the start by searching for the pictures they sent on tineye and finding they were from a former r/gonewild poster. Also the fact that they just messaged a random account out of the blue and were instantly smitten and sending nudes like the next day. And the fact that when I said I’m married they were not dissuaded in the least.

I have no idea if it would’ve been a blackmail scam or a sympathy scam or a phishing scam. I started out just intending to fuck with them, but eventually found I was looking forward to sharing what I made for dinner or drinks or hearing about their fictitious backstory. I mean they weren’t deep conversations, but they acted interested and I could just ramble on about my day or where I like to vacation or whatever mundane shit.

At first I thought she was going to hit me with checking out her OF and I might’ve even thrown her a few bucks for taking the time to just talk with me. We talked for hours off and on without her asking me for money. I can appreciate establishing a connection, you know? But no. It wasn’t OF. It was just a scammer of some variety. Then I let them know they were busted and got to enjoy hearing the sob story about her evil ex who posted her nudes online and all the excuses she couldn’t prove it was her in any of the fifty ways I offered.

But sadly our relational ended when she started hitting me with ChatGPT. I don’t need a middleman to pretend I’m talking to someone with an AI.

    Hypothetically, of course.

  • I’m not that technical. I was trying really hard to be a good guy but I definitely wanted to fuck her. That whole façade of maturity crumbled at my first opportunity.

It was all bullshit, technically and otherwise. But there’s something about a woman looking at you and saying you raped her that undoes you. There was probably a time in my life after that when I was in danger of going full incel. But I didn’t and here we are. We were both young and dumb and I’m sure she could never have known how deeply that cut.

  • You did the right thing. I helped a lady friend move out from her husband’s when they split. She didn’t want to stay in a new apartment all alone, so I offered to spend the night on her couch. Well come time to bed down, she wanted me in her bed. Then she wanted to snuggle. Then she started rubbing her backside against my front.

Well I read the signs and we had sex. It was fine. Wind up dating for a bit. Like 3 weeks later we were talking about something and she lays on me, “I never said we could have sex so technically you raped me.”

You do not fucking accuse someone of technically rape as playful banter. Things went awkward and downhill after that. Not solely because of that. She was not ready for a relationship that soon after splitting from her husband, but I was young and horny and too inexperienced to possess the level of maturity necessary to understand that.

Anyway, maybe if I had made sure to give her more time it would’ve gone better. Probably not. But I damn sure wouldn’t have gotten accused of rape.
