That’s so cool! Out of curiosity, have you noticed any performance or bug differences between windows/Linux?

Living the dream. If I were in a better financial position I’d do the same
I appreciate your kindness and I definitely need to get out more. I have dogs I have to walk multiple times a day so I’m forced to get some walks in even when I don’t feel like it. It helps the mental health a bit for sure.
It’s Escape Reality farm. Usually I’m less meta and more focused on a fun theme, but I wasn’t feeling that this run. Do you have a favorite farm you’ve made?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What kind of names do pubs or other drinking establishments have in your country?
0·3 months agoOddly enough in Salt Lake City, UT we have a few fun ones:
- A Bar Named Sue
- The Tavernacle (pokes fun at the mormon Tabernacle)
- Lake Effect

0·3 months agoI adore sdv…but that looks not great. The 2D models just turning with the player camera is jarring. I hope it’s just not for me and other people enjoy it knowing that the modders put in a ton of effort to bring this to life.

0·4 months agoI can only dream of a country that cares enough to invest in longevity and community. But I live in the real world where capitalism doesn’t value human lives over profit.
This is coming from a guy who’s been unemployed for 8 months due to layoffs and I voted in the primary for the most progressive candidates available. I hate it here.
This train of thought could only come from a true dork and I now hold the highest respect for you 🫡
Do you have a recipe? I’ve never made it, but I do enjoy pretzels so maybe I’d like it 🤷♂️

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Tire Pollution May Threaten Human Health, Study FindsEnglish
11·5 months agoMore and more of these studies are done with no measurable change in policy. Then I keep hearing all the “good news” about electric cars picking up more market share globally. Why the hell can’t we have more busses and trains instead?
When money drives policy in the U.S. we’re never going to put people’s health/safety first
I remember being 10 when 9/11 happened. While the events themselves were awful the 24 hour news cycle for like 2-3 months afterward was even worse.
News organizations sensationalized even tiny shit to capture more viewership. Then all the policy changed from the govt ruined the nation’s bit of prosperity for anyone non-millionaire (or beyond).
I felt like I lost my childhood innocence after seeing how we reacted as a nation and decided to bomb a country because of the actions of one group. Fuck anyone involved in those decisions.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Tell me some of the spooky/paranormal/unexplained shit that's happened to you?
0·5 months agoYeah I have no clue what could have caused the shared sleep paralysis demon there. Oddly enough I moved back to the same apartment complex, but a different building about 500nfeet away from the original one and never had any weird experiences

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Tell me some of the spooky/paranormal/unexplained shit that's happened to you?
0·5 months agoSo I don’t generally believe in the supernatural stuff, but I’ve had a few experiences I can’t explain that still freak me out a bit.
I used to live in a 3 bedroom apartment with a rotation of 2-3 other roommates that worked out being about 7 different people that lived there during the 2 years I lived at the place. Every single one, including myself, had a nightmare experience that only happened while living there.
The nightmare wouldn’t seem different from an average dream. Then you’d notice a presence like someone who wasn’t supposed to be there. Eventually the discomfort of this presence would become overbearing and wake you up. Which is when you’d realize you were in sleep paralysis and hear a woman screaming loudly in your room.
Eventually you’d shake off the paralysis and have to decompress from whatever the hell occurred. But man was it strange that it happened to all 7 roommates the exact same way and was isolated to that random apartment.
Bonus experience - At that same place I once woke up to my computer turning on by itself. The monitor lit up my small room and when I woke up to see what was going on it looked like my room was filled with smoke. There was no smell of smoke, but in my sleepy haze I didn’t care as I thought it was a possible fire. So I carefully touched the door handle to make sure it wasn’t going to burn me. It was fine, I opened the door and it was dark and normal for the middle of the night. I turned back to my room and watched the smoke somewhat slowly disappear. I have no explanation for what I saw that night and have never had a similar experience since then.
Agreed. The vast majority of cats just need to trust you and you’ll receive more love than you can handle. It’s about consent with them.
Which is why it’s a red flag if people say they don’t like cats. 9/10 they are not good people if they don’t get what they want.

Don’t forget about the salt lake that’s going to become a toxic dust cloud soon!
