I mean it kinda is though. Then your sweat is an evaporative cooling system that dissipates the heat once it’s carried to the surface

I can’t by any means say I’m immune to propaganda, but I’ve been thinking along these lines since 2016 (when I wasn’t even on social media or reading the news), so it’d have to have been some pretty pervasive, in-person propaganda.
I don’t think a full-scale revolution against our current government could even possibly succeed by sheer military strength; not unless the bulk of the military defected to the revolutionaries’ side. But, I do think an Ireland-style revolution (guerilla warfare targeting strategic government officials) would be plausible, albeit far from good. It would cause substantial upheaval and likely wouldn’t overthrow the government, but it may force their hand a bit if it happened.
Again, I wouldn’t personally condone or participate in something like that unless I had nothing to lose, because of course it would be a suicide mission, but I do worry that more and more Americans are left with nothing to lose by the day. I’m not saying a revolution should happen, or that it would somehow be a good thing, but the tensions do make it feel like it might happen, especially if the economy crashes.
To be fair, there are some of us Americans who legitimately are starting to feel like revolution may be the only way to root out the corruption in our government. That said I’d still personally exhaust every alternative option first

0·21 days agoNot to be contrarian, but this is my backyard where I grew up in central Ohio:

The parks are just easy examples because they’re public property.
Now, I know I was lucky to have the kind of access to nature I had as a kid. I work now towards trying to give everyone that kind of access, and the parks system is the best way I know to do that.
Funnily, both links look/act identical to me and keep me in my home instance. Must be an mbin thing?

0·22 days agoLOL fair, just doing my part to raise awareness! You’d be shocked how many people live right next to places like this and don’t even know they exist

0·22 days agoEh, there’s a lot of this in Ohio for sure, but as someone who lives here I think people forget how much nature there is too. I’ve worked in several environmental conservation jobs and there’s a lot of truly beautiful places here.
Examples:
Mohican State Park

Gorman Nature Center

Strouds Run State Park

Hocking Hills State Park

Miami University Natural Areas

Midwest US here too and my family also had this table when I was a kid. This comment section feels like a bunch of midwesterners realizing the midwest US isn’t the entire world lol
Oooo it’s not often I see a Brian David Gilbert reference in the wild
I immediately knew who this was - GrammaCrackers is awesome. On the plus side, it doesn’t seem to have caused any major problems for her:
Recalling the incident, [she] remarked, “They walked me out, and I didn’t know what was going on, but it was kinda fun. My grandkid and my kid were hugging me - you can’t get that much attention normally. I was really eating it up. It was kinda fun.”
Surefire way for a site to ensure they immediately make my blocklist
This is actually amazing

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Releasing goldfish into the wild can mess up ecosystems
0·2 months agoAs someone who worked at a park district, this is 100% true and such a big problem. Those fuckers grow to be like 18 inches long and have thousands of babies.
Someone dumped a couple they got at a fair into one of our ponds and within a few years they were nearly the only life left in the entire pond. They eat anything and everything in their path and decimate local ecosystems. They’re the freahwater equivalent of locusts.
We ended up electrifying the entire pond, scooping them all up, and rebuilding the whole natural ecosystem back up from scratch. You can’t do that with a lake tho
Yeah, it’s written to mimic that image. My bet’s on it being a reference
