  • Fortunately they can write up 3 Rx and then send to the pharmacy every month until my next appt.

Of course my pharmacy can’t get the stuff due to the shortage so I have been without for 2wks now. It’s a process to have the Rx sent over to a different pharmacy. Easy for someone normal. But ADHD without meds? Yeah.

Definitely talk to your doc. (My GP prescribes my meds; the psychologist diagnosed and wrote a letter).

I don’t really have noticeable side effects. When I first tried the stuff I started at 30mg then at 40mg I started seeing lots of bright spots and went back to 30. Freaky experience.

I’ve been on 30mg for years now. My heart doesn’t usually race but some days I get a little jittery. I don’t recall it being elevated back when I was using an exercise monitor. It probably doesn’t help that I drink a double shot latte every morning with my meds. My BP did not seem to be affected by the lisdex last time I tested it on and off the ADHD meds. (I am on BP meds too).

Worth mentioning, I am also on Effexor (venlafaxine) for depression and anxiety, which was diagnosed a decade before adhd-c. Prior to Effexor I was on Lexapro for a few years.

When I was testing dosage, my PA said to increase 10mg every few days until I noticed it helping, then increase until I noticed side effects and then we would go with 10mg below that. Or something like that. Which is how I ended up at 30mg.

I recall that I couldn’t tell at first how much 30 helped vs 40 but now that I have more experience with the medicine and self evaluating my symptoms. The difference between 30mg and none is now very obvious.

Although… I have been thinking about trying 40 again so I can re-evaluate, in case I get a bit more out of it without side effects this time. Maybe I will do that next time I’m up for a refill.

  • If you don’t want to be poor, don’t do espresso lol. You’ll get some very fine grounds using a French press. Others have probably posted ideas on how to get a more filtered cup. I only used a basic Bodum and it made decent coffee.

I would agree that a burr grinder of any kind is going to be a superior experience vs blade grinder and far better than pre ground.

Once you get into grinding your own then you can try different beans which should give you different flavors. Loads of places ship roasted coffee. Two places I have tried and would suggest: Blk and Bold, and Red Bird Coffee. There are a gazillion other roasters, though.

You can also roast your own if you want to get more expensive. Check Sweet Maria’s if you want to take that plunge some day. They have advice, roasters, and green coffee beans.

  • For me it isn’t “some” word it is “many, many” words.

    charcuterie (shar-KOO-terr-ee) (TIL)

    potable (POH-tah-bull)

prerogative (preh-ROG-ah-tiv) – wait, wat? Damn. I say it (pur-OHG-ah-tiv)

    preternatural (pree-ter-NAT-chur-al)

remuneration (reh-myoo-ner-AY-shun) – I’m not admitting how I say it lol

surprise - let’s just say I spelled it suprise for ages. sigh

victual (vittle) - wait, that’s how you spell it??

    Indefatigable (IN-dih-FA-tih-gə-bl) not in-dee-fa-TEEG-able

Primer: \PRIMM-er\ – small book / short informative piece of writing. (Brits can use long-i for both the paint undercoat and the book).

Mischievous: \MISS-chuh-vuss\ though mis-CHEE-vee-us is a non standard alternate pronunciation.

Interlocutor: \in tuhr LOCK you tore. I had no idea how to pronounce this so I never said it.

I think some “mispronunciations” are down to regional pronunciation. Like, I say miniature as MIN-ih-chure by habit though I’m well aware of how it’s spelled and “should” be pronounced. I swear that’s how I heard it growing up.

Maybe it isn’t regional and it is just me. That would explain some things lol.

And uh, yeah I have a bunch more, some I know but am forgetting at the moment. Undoubtedly I mispronounce many more while having no idea. What must people think of me? Lol
