  • It’s quite hard to pin point my exact disappointment - but I think I either wanted something new, or something with greater depth. Preferably both.

I personally feel like there was not the level of character development I wanted. In the second gig, when the guy at the end had his brief soliloquy, “I’ll go on ahead.” It was great. I was connected. And the music in that show, amazing, the whole plot of international deceit with “terroristic immigrant populations.” It was amazing.

Dunno. I know that we are in “rerun territory” but, I expect better.

I’m ok with people disagreeing with me though. Maybe this one isn’t in my style or something.

  • The bike lane is usable. I mean, for about a half-a-block at a time, cause of the parked cars.

I wish NYC would allow citizens to take a video of a car parked in the bike lane for more than a minute, issue a ticket, and make it profitable for the ticket issuer. All of the problems would go away overnight.

And actually, I wish we could take videos of cars going through red lights. Or, LOL, illegal u-turns. “Go around the block” is not a thing anymore. Everyone just turns around wherever the fuck they are.

  • Ok I have some news -

It’s not safebrowsing - or probably not - maybe I just can’t turn it off now or something.

    So I

    • “refreshed” firefox to get to original state
    • disabled all of safebrowsing via settings and then via about:config -> “safebr*.enabled”
    • disabled all telemetry that got turned on via refresh
    • turned off fucking AI

    Nothing worked.

Eventually got logs running with: “export MOZ_LOG=timestamp,rotate:200,nsHttp:5,cache2:5,nsSocketTransport:100,nsHostResolver:100”

found out mozilla is doing fucking push notifications?? wtf. that resolves to google? turned that off.

Anyway, it does a bunch of shit. All talking to google in the end.

I hate Firefox. I’m so over all of this.

When I start the browser, and it is blank, and I have done nothing, it should do nothing. If it needs some base certificate updates, it should do this once a week. Or never. Let me decide.

Talking to google, even doing dns lookups every fucking time I open a browser. God. Who are these people. /rant

  • Firefox is trying to connect to 34.160.144.191 at startup. It continues the connection, perhaps to reuse it, or whatever.

Firefox should never talk to google. And if there is some database that google has that firefox needs, Firefox should duplicate that DB. The fact that I have this thing talking to google anytime I do anything is gross. Anyhow. Blah blah blah. I’m annoying! ;-)

I have a feeling it’s the safebrowsing. Will find out later. And then will disable.

  • Nah, I think we just need a dialog box - could be like osx - “are you sure you want to allow the plugin that you said you wanted to use? It was built by: you, not signed by Mozilla.” Maybe put a “You have unsigned plugins running” tool tip - that gets displayed at startup or every 8 hours.

Again - imagine if you couldn’t install the programs you wanted on your computer - this is current firefox.

I suppose we are both beating the already-dead-horse on different ends now.
