Yes. We need to do those things as well, and this travesty doesn’t remove the need for all of us to decarbonise

PHEV are also petrol cars. There’s been at least two studies now showing that in the real world they’re rarely plugged in, meaning not only are they burning oil, but they’re burning extra oil to lug a battery and spare motor around

I mean, very obviously not everybody sees this, otherwise we wouldn’t have streets full of deadly vehicles would we?
Basically King William rubbing his little hands and asking “How much money is coming my way?”.

This will be like the proof of age face scans. Yes, the VIDEO is deleted, but the unique biometric code describing your face sure as hell won’t be deleted. Focusing on deleting the video has got to be a deliberate distraction

Why are Sikhs supporting Reform? Haven’t the leopards eaten enough faces?

Good to remember that the client for Teams isn’t you - it’s your IT department

Yes, but… Why would a politician bother to act when it appears to them that the public are all cool with the situation?

I find the quality of discussion sadly lower than Reddit. Back therrthere you often got really thoughtful and interesting responses to posts, and indeed they were frequently more interesting than the posts themselves. Here, the quality is really poor, in general
This is Newton’s third law

Even at ELI5, I’d nuance this. Big things like fridges and washing machines use AC, most small things like phones and laptops use DC, and have to have the AC that comes out of our wall sockets converted to DC before they can use it. This wastes a bit of energy. If you can, run small appliances straight from DC to avoid those conversion losses

How very dare you? Gen X is long off Facebook - it’s our parents on there, being radicalised by Russian bots

Counterpoint: no, don’t listen to them

It’s nice they named it after the king. He gets so little in life

Until the public are prepared to turn devices off whenever they’re told, we need readily available sources of energy that can be fired up at a moment’s notice to fill the gaps between demand and what the renewables are providing. That’s done with gas, and so we all have to pay to keep a handful of gas stations operational. The alternative is that you turn appliances off on still cloudy days, which I suspect you’d like less than your current energy bill

The thing is, that was because of another bad Google decision years ago. They decided to downrate short pages in the search results (such as a page with a nice simple recipe on it), and people realised they got no hits unless they padded the page with guff.
Remember that you don’t have to get them all in the same night. Siril can stack them when they’re from different sessions.
There’s quite a lot of sharp detail there. As with all astrophotography, you now just need a lot more hours of data! It’ll just get better

A good UK example is Ethex. There you can say “Here’s my money” and lend to small sustainable projects. I’ve lent money to a community energy project, for example, and am getting a 6% return on that
Fossil fuel interests seem to be a key funder of fascism. The fascists are their useful idiots
