The fruit is incredibly astringent when unripe.

Maybe the o is a nose and the slash is the mouth? Like how “:-)” uses three characters.
But you would also be gaining valuable access to the night and very early morning.

1·1 year agoYou’re right. Perfection is the enemy of better. Anything is better than nothing. I guess I just give up too easily.

712·1 year agoI’m all for bike infrastructure but LA is already so wide and sprawling it seems like it would take herculean effort to make it cyclable at this point.
The meme is not about the specific person in the photo. You’re not supposed to hate the specific person in the photo. It’s about the type of person described in the text and the picture is just a stand-in for those people.
This type of Christian is very real and numerous and make service workers lives much harder. This meme is by and for the people who are effected by their attitudes.
I think you might not enjoy the meme because you haven’t had experience with this type of Christian. That’s okay. Not every meme has to be for everyone. But please, don’t let your takeaway be that we hate the specific woman in from the photo.

Linux@lemmy.ml•A few beginner questions about the differences between distros.
0·2 years agoI’m very new to Linux, and the two distros that seem the most appealing are Fedora and openSUSE. Do you know why Fedora gets recommended so much more often over openSUSE? I’d like to narrow down my choice between these two. If it helps, I’d like to use KDE.
I agree people can and do create without IP as a motivation, and would continue to in its absence. I believe in a perfect world where everyone’s needs are met, IP may not be necessary at all. I would argue, though, that in the world we live in, the economic incentive IP creates has tangibly contributed to many valuable innovations that benefit humanity. Many people and companies rely on that incentive to be able to fund the work needed to create.
What is the incentive to create and innovate FOSS? Altruism? I’m genuinely asking. Maybe I don’t know enough about the movement.
Just because intellectual property can be voluntarily relinquished to great effect doesn’t mean the option to retain it should be abolished.
It says the story took place in 2020. And that it played “Most games” on medium settings. 30-40 fps is playable to a lot of people. I’m inclined to believe them.
It’s displays correctly for me in Boost.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why is it considered sexist to ask women to smile?
0·2 years agoIt’s really only creepy old dudes I get it from. It seems pretty genuine most of the time. These comments are more frequent and more egregious with my women coworkers, though, as one might expect.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why is it considered sexist to ask women to smile?
0·2 years agoI agree with the sentiment, but I, a man, actually have customers tell me to smile more weirdly often working retail.
How are people who don’t want to have kids a problem?
It’s doubling the word count, not the physical length.
I get 15-20 dollar tickets to concerts by bands I love fairly often, personally. It definitely depends a bit what kind of music you’re in to, and probably what part of the country you live in, but cheap concerts are still out there.
Rabbits breed like crazy and multiply fast. Rabbits have been associated with fertility for centuries in pagan traditions. The rabbit is the symbol of the germanic pagan goddess of Spring and fertility, Eostre. I suspect there is a connection here.

I keep seeing your comments tonight with kagis used as a verb. I’ve been interested in trying kagi for a while now. How do you feel its indexing stacks up to Google? I like them from an ethical standpoint, but paying for a browser that doesn’t work well might be difficult to pallete I’m afraid.
