Time has reversed and we are back to beanposting

Yeah I’m not really that proud of that phase. It broke after witnessing consecutively poorer quality shows and movies released after Endgame, after which I tried exploring movies from other franchises.

I am somewhat able to get the idea of the meme, but I still fail to understand what got it popular to this extent.

On a separate note, the third comment in the first screenshot genuinely gave me a good chuckle.

Is this how I get to know Heath Ledger died? His acting was great nonetheless and I would’ve loved to watch him in future movies. I feel bad now ;(

Interesting. I did find the soundtracks to be cinematic while watching the movies, but there was nothing iconic about it, not even a simple hum I could remember afterwards. I could always recall parts of the music for other Nolan’s films I’ve watched, but the entire trilogy seems to be an exception for some reason.

My primary motivation to watch the trilogy was to see how Christian Bale would play a regular non psychopathic role across three complete movies, even though I haven’t actually seen American Psycho. I don’t know why this was my main motivation, just that it was.

Tron: Ares was not that bad either. The visuals were a clear upgrade from Tron: Legacy and a handful of clips I’ve seen from the original Tron movie. You can notice that that they put a lot of details in places like Ares’ HUD, consoles, the proprietary 3D printer and the virtual red-coloured world whose name I can’t remember right now.

The soundtrack does complement the movie, although I noticed that they repeated certain “melodies” across the movie more than I would’ve liked. It’s obviously not at par with Daft Punk but it resembles the spirit of the Tron franchise.

The plot is a real rollercoaster in terms of quality and believability. The backstory and plot of the main protagonists feel solid and so is the interaction between each other. Somehow Jared Leto decently fits the role of Ares and his dialogues don’t feel out of place or cringey. On the other hand, the story gives too much power to the antagonist to the point that it clearly feels unfair. Also some action scenes feel like they’re happening just because they have to, and probably give material for the trailers to give the viewers something to look forward to while watching the movie.

If you have no qualms with the involvement of Jared Leto, I would recommend that you give this movie a try. It’s certainly not a masterpiece, but it’s surprisingly well made for a movie that that considered a flop by the users at Lemmy.

This was an extremely interesting and informative read. I have been fascinated by computer networks and recently started reading about them. I was surprised that I was able to understand almost the entirety of the article despite my limited knowledge of networks.

Are there recommendations for textbooks or resources that explain computer networks in a manner similar to that of this article?

I recall having used tinywow.com for bite-sized tasks with files which I found quite convenient at the time. While I have stopped using it in favour of better and privacy respecting applications, I love how BentoPDF brings about a similar level of convenience, as a FOSS app no less.

If you have OSMand, you would be interested to know about the Live Updates feature, which lets you download newer versions of maps on top of your existing downloaded maps, kind of like a software patch. The feature states that you can download map updates as recent as one hour, but I’ve personally seen the “patches” reflect the changes as soon as 15-20 minutes into upload.

To view live updates, assuming you didn’t heavily customise your OSMand interface:

1. Open the drawer through the hamburger icon button on the bottom left corner of the screen
2. Select ‘Maps & Resources’ from the drawer
3. Select ‘Updates’ tab from the tab list below the ‘Maps & Resources’ title bar on the top of the screen
4. Select ‘Live Updates’ just below the ‘Device Memory’ graph
5. Enable the toggle below the ‘OsmAnd Live’ title bar on the top of the screen
6. Select a map of your choosing among the list displayed under ‘Available Maps’
7. Select the ‘Update now’ button in the bottom sheet to manually update the map and wait for a moment

Once the steps have been followed, you show see something like this below the title of the bottom sheet:

“Updated: Today - <current time>. Includes OSM changes made until <current timestamp>.”

If you see this, you can go back to the map and verify that the changes have been included without downloading the entire map of the location from scratch. The “patches” are only a few MBs at most and you can set the live updates to happen automatically on an hourly, daily or weekly basis.
