I have a dream, that one day people will stop making arch derivatives that fragment the user space even more

Technology@lemmy.world•The U.S. spent $30 billion to ditch textbooks for laptops and tablets: The result is the first generation less cognitively capable than their parentsEnglish
0·4 months agoPeople in my school literally failed PE, all you had to do was literally change your clothes. This is just people boogy manning tech so they feel smart. Fact is these kids will not be held back no matter what, and even if you hold them back they don’t care. They don’t see why they should bother learning in school, their parents don’t care about how they are doing in school. Passing American K-12 is essentially putting 4 brain cells of effort. We spend more money on education per capita then the rest of the world. Talk about class sizes, text books blah blah blah dosen’t matter when you have kids bullying teachers out of their jobs

0·4 months agoIn California most of my teachers were making 6 figures in my rural town, the problem is that kids don’t care about learning, their parents especially do not care at all.

death is preferable than using Windows.
Disagree, theirs so many people who think a meal isn’t a meal without meat. “Im eating the meal for the meat”. Onetime at a restaurant I was considering getting this plantain dish and my friends looked at me like I’m crazy for getting an entree without meat ???

0·5 months agoWe like to think EU abandoning tech companies will create a new privacy FOSS ecosystem, when in reality they will likely just recreate their own Tech corps like China and US now that they have skin in the game

0·5 months agoScaled still lacks the kind of big commented threads that are still recent.
Like I kinda want like if you took Active, removed everything a day+ older, then mixed in Hot
edit: Wonder if they would accept a PR hmmm
If you can get the whole world to buy a new fridge at the same time you would be so insanely rich anyone would fund that. Instead of the reality where people buy it on a year to year basis and then eventually need to be replaced on a staggered schedule?
So much of the world’s problems comes from that if you have one product that 8.99 and the other thats 9.99 everyone will buy the first one without question
Are any commonly used desktop distros debian based besides Ubuntu ? Ubuntu derivatives are not as they follow the latest upstream packages 1:1 usually iirc. Monjaro has its own dependency update schedule so it creates a new userspace dependency set to build against. If 10 distros follow the same thing we have 10 different timestamps of arch you have to build against.
Maybe my info is out of date, I just use arch & fedora.
