Painting every homophobe as gay only serves to frame the issue as gay folk oppressing themselves. Straight homophobes have always been the core problem and it’s not reasonable to push that responsibility back onto queer folks by baselessly speculating about people’s sexualities.

I also suggest you take a close look at how much your conclusions about the frequency of this happening are based in confirmation bias. The human brain loves patterns and will see them even when they don’t exist.

You should check out Total Fantasy Knockout. The author has stated multiple times that the exact nature of the unavoidable queerness of the story is left for the audience to decide and that they just want to cause people to realize things about themselves, lol.

I do get kind of frustrated when transfems claim for their “team” characters whose experiences and stated feelings map really well onto transmasc experiences, but I understand the impulse and at some point we all just need to take what we can get. (For the record, Ranma does not fall into that camp for me because he very much does not seem to have dysphoria, lol)

Hardly anyone reads Ranma as a transmasc character though, mostly because he was born and raised male and his female form is rather new. Instead, he’s typically seen as the transfem egg fantasy of “oh no someone made me become a girl! Oh well, there’s nothing I can do.” In the actual text of the anime/manga, he is pretty adamant that he’s a guy, but mostly seems to want to get rid of his female form because it’s inconvenient (he gets comfortable being seen as a woman pretty quickly). IMO it’s got some genderqueer/gnc flavor, but doesn’t map very well onto more binary trans experiences.

It makes sense for a hospital birth record (not a government document) to note “observed sex at birth”, alongside other measurements like length and weight, since it’s a medical record and gives then a moderately good first guess about internal organs.

It makes sense for drivers license and passport to have “gender expression” alongside hair and eye color, height, weight and if you wear glasses. Everything in that section is self-reported and helps make sure you’re the person on the document, but they’re all things that can be situationally different or go out of date. With how dimorphic our fashion is culturally, gender expression can be pretty identifying, similar to the other qualities.

Every other government document has no business recording sex or gender in any capacity. Neither of them is the government’s business.

It’s very good, but for anyone planning on watching it: take the content warnings EXTREMELY seriously. The show does not mess around.

I’ve also heard there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, so it’s not 100% suffering. But golly gee wiz is there still a lot of suffering.

I’ve heard that recommendation a lot - “play DS1 first because otherwise you won’t have the patience to play it later”, and TBH all that tells me is to skip 1, play the more recent entries, and then move on to the many, many other games that I keep meaning to play, lol.

I’ve bounced off a couple souls games before but I’m now like 150 hours deep into elden ring on a friend’s copy, lol, but they only have the base game. I’d like to play the dlc (which is not on sale) eventually so I think it makes sense to get my own copy at some point (I’ve heard transferring saves is pretty easy on pc)

ETA: I normally don’t like hard games but I keep feeling like elden ring is encouraging me to be better rather than trying to defeat me, which is a difference I think a lot of hard games miss

IMO outer wilds has a strong tone of optimism and hope in the face of existential dread, so I think you’re probably good on that front. And if you’re at all a fan of environmental storytelling and don’t hate physics sims, I think you’ll like it just fine. If you’re super unsure, maybe watch like the first hour (or less if you find your answer early) of someone doing a blind playthrough and see if the manner of storytelling grabs you.

While I generally agree, I think it’s always worth keeping in mind that sexualizing every female character all of the time can make women and fem-presenting people feel unwelcome in our communities. It’s especially important to remember that when there’s a decent-sized group of cis/het men who consider that part of the point of fanservice - just look at the gamergate crowd.

There’s a lot of negativity in here and I want to share a different perspective.

First of all, it is extremely, overwhelmingly obvious that your posts are satire. Looking through your posts, I found it basically impossible to imagine thinking you were serious, even if I had agreed with the things you were saying.

Second, all of the criticism here seems to be about how folks are sensitive when it comes to stuff about modern politics. That’s understandable - a fresh wound will be sensitive, after all. But I think that “this kind of humor makes me feel bad about the world” is the sort of use case the block button was made for. A better argument against what you’re doing would be that you’re causing harm, doing things like radicalizing people or antagonizing oppressed groups, which I haven’t seen anyone argue that you’re doing. (If anyone here believes that chad is causing harm, I’m open to having my mind changed, but you’d have to explain why.) I don’t think “this isn’t how I want to react to awful politics” is a reason to make you stop what I’m sure is a cathartic exercise on your end.

Clarifying question: Do the rules apply to the egging of fictional characters? On the one hand, there is no “truth” to their identity and speculating about their internal feelings is part of engaging with fiction, but on the other hand it may model bad behavior for engaging with real people.
