I am over in Rochester, and I just cried. I used to live in Clifton Springs for a few months and it is terrifying how “red” it gets one or two towns over from the more blue.

I absolutely hate it when my language center segfaults and I feel like I have aphasia. I will go through periods where it happens a concerning amount, and then back to a sprinkle of dysfunction. Forgetting simple words or names of people you have known for years is unsettling. I sometimes get really scared and panic if it happens a lot. Trying to explain to your coworkers on a conference call that your brain isn’t functioning correctly isn’t the most comfortable experience.

That is my exact complaint. The phones are too tall! I am ok with it being wider, but the height is insanity. The whole balance of the phone is awkward and I would be ok with more of the weight on the bottom instead of the middle of a tall ass phone.

Wiccans? Like, pagans? What do you have against them? Most I have met have been pretty chill. I get hating all religions, but weird little pagans are near the bottom for me as long as they are not hurting anyone.

As for the rest, fuck Elon and indeed, our tax system is never in our favor. Just rich assholes and businesses that never seem to have to pay anything.

This really is a perfect example. I did a lot of MIDI things as a kid!

I mostly use mine to program. I started gaming again after barely playing them for a decade, but that is not my computer’s primary purpose. Otherwise, I do dumb online browsing, play D&D with friends (used to…), fiddle around with art (mostly do that on iPad), 3d printing or electronics related things. Random shit like that.

E! I love watching videos on it. Mark Rober’s player piano was pretty cool.

I deal with this constantly. Profilers are your friend. I keep begging my team to use the database dumps from production to test with, but nope. Don’t feel bad about messing up though. The amount of fuck ups I deal with in prod is exasperating. At least most of the things I break is a quick 5 minute fix and not weeks of rework.

The hardest thing I have explaining to the team is the concept of time. Once you have done controls programming and get to witness how much happens in 50-100ms, it sinks in. Your thing takes 500ms? 1 second? They think this is acceptable on something that is dealing with less than 100 database records. 😭

Watching my friends suffer through the early access has been quite amusing.

Yay! Welcome to the club. Being able to filter out some of the overwhelming external stimuli is amazing. Not hearing the entire restaurant at once while failing to hear the person trying to talk to me. It does kind of equalize after the first month, so be prepared to adjust dosing, but feeling even halfway like a functional adult is a miracle of modern medicine.

1. Ask for an incomplete in the class, withdraw, or accept the failure.
2. Retake the course and get a decent grade.

Biggest thing I had to learn is when to withdraw from a class, ask the professor for more time very far in advance, and accept that you sometimes fail and need to retake it.

I gave up on TP-Link. I will never purchase any consumer router from them again. Little to no updates, connection issues that were made worse with an update, features REMOVED with an update, settings wouldn’t always stick, which results in a factory reset to get it to do anything. WPA3 just doesn’t work. It even would “mysteriously” turn it’s DHCP server back on, no matter how many times I turned it off, when it was in AP mode. Friend had the same model and most of the same issues.

I have had better luck with the other brands, but I feel like most of them suck or cost way more than they should.

When you remember when “pre-existing conditions” was a thing until Obama stopped it and the fear that it will be allowed again, you absolutely are not going to shed a damn tear. If you really want to be depressed, watch Sicko by Michael Moore. Things have changed a little bit since then, but the attitude of the insurance and big pharma have absolutely not. The no surprises act that went in this year was another step forward, but who knows how long it will stick. People still go to other countries to get medical procedures and medication. People still go bankrupt from medical bills. People still have to spend hours on the phone begging some underpaid drone to get them healthcare because what your doctor says you need is overriden by a fucking corporation.

It looks like there are a few ISPs, countries, and general blacklists that block them. Explains why my firewall and DNS filters are catching it. Oh well. I can look more into fixing it later if it really becomes an issue.

How do you actually see the image? I just get “glide failed to grab image”. I tried to open the link directly and get connection error too. Not the first time I have experienced this on posts, but trying to figure out if the image was taken down or if the image is actually blocked.

Ok. Explain the Lubbock joke. I grew up in Odessa, but Lubbock had Orlandos with their delicious rum cake and the science museum. That was really the only reason for me to go over there and deal with driving through fucking Andrews County with all the drunks on the road. The only thing I miss from Texas is the food and sky.

I think they mean the iPhone. I love my MPB, but I still have no interest in iPhones due to lack of filesystem access, interface for the deranged, and not being able to customize it the way I want.

I think about that show all the time. Even today I was thinking about that scene with Angela and Terry where she asks him why. There were so many amazing scenes in that show, and I love every episode.
