Yah, tbh this really smells like an implemented feature that got depriotized on the roadmap. The developers were probably like, “we can make an entry that has it as pending deletion, stop showing it in the UI, and then have a reaping job that actually deletes all the files.”

Later on, someone says, “Hey, to save on compute, we could just reap when we’re low on space. No need to delete on a cron.”

Then six months later someone says, “Hey, did we ever implement that? It’s high priority.” And someone up top says, “It’s not in the OKRs. Quick; make a chat app so we can shut it down in a year.”

If confronted at a bar I’d consider it for basically all the reasons you mentioned. When I send updates to my friends in France or Ireland or China I find myself apologizing for wherever embarrassing things we’ve done most recently.

I’d want to do a near remake of Deus Ex, the original, with the first person interactive/immersive simulation aspects and role playing, but set in the Murderbot Diaries universe. No. I think the general consensus is that C# is faster.

The cases where GDScript are faster consist of those where there’s a great deal of marshalling and unmarshalling, like with heavy engine calls and signaling. If you’re doing compute heavy work.

GDScript is still plenty fast, so use the one that’s most comfortable.
