Microsoft should be split up, at the very least. I’d also like to see the leadership stripped of their wealth and the company handed over to the workers.

Anyone who seriously suggests privatization should be barred from working in government. They should be fully investigated for conflicts of interest, and if any are found nailed to the fucking wall. They’re thieves stealing from the public.

HR at the horrible mega Corp I work for has been described as “day care”. They all seem to move at a glacial speed, which when you’re dealing with time sensitive tasks I’d say is incompetence.

The few I’ve talked to are nice, in a polite small talk way, but it just shouldn’t take a whole month to go from application to phone screen. Certainly not for internal candidates.

Businesses are making more money, they are accumulating cash and so are their employees.

This seems… dubious. Where is the money coming from? Is it a closed system? My understanding is the government typically is putting money into the system through various mechanisms, much of which is giving money to rich people and their businesses.

Is the problem that the businesses have too much money? Because taxing them seems like a better solution.

I have several old but working electronics and I literally haven’t been able to give them away for free. They’re probably going to end up in the eWaste trash. I don’t know if that leads to anything being reclaimed, but probably not.

Sure, but there has to be some agency on the part of people. Like, yes they’re victims of propaganda and such, but I don’t want a model where everyone is acted upon and never acts. My wealthy coworkers who just don’t read books are who I’m thinking of. They have ample time and resources to learn more, but it’s easier to just watch anime and play dota.

If you don’t expect them to ever act, then nothing will change and we’ll just be crushed by capitalism and friends forever.

And by act I don’t even mean like go start a revolution, or a mutual aid group, or do anything dramatic. Just spend 20 minutes reading about history. Be curious. Overcome the quagmire of propaganda we’re immersed in. Just for a little bit.

Most people don’t know any history of labor. I barely know anything and I’m interested in the topic. It’s frustrating. I mean, I can accept the ingnorance. That’s natural. But the lack of curiosity is upsetting.

My impression is a lot of the people in the hiring pipeline are bad at this job. Maybe they’re good at other parts of their job, but not hiring. Especially not the recruiters who aren’t themselves technical
