Technology@lemmy.world•Commodore 64's New Flip Phone Skips Android for Linux-Based Sailfish OSEnglish
0·15 days agoI had a flip phone once. I kicked it due to being angry that I don’t have a smartphone and it split in two. I was 12 maybe
Funny enough I could still recieve calls on the bottom half.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Either Linux's built-in display drivers are black magic or microslop is incompetent
0·19 days agoThis week I nad to install Wi*dows on my old laptop so I could give it to my dad.
It turns out that for some reason microslop does not include the NVMe drivers for this platform in the installer. Never had this issue when installing Linux on it. Image my confusion when I found out this was the issue.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•There was a time when people had to deal with all of these being separate
0·27 days agoI now have a Bluetooth DAC, but it’s not as easy as just plugging headphones directly into the phone, and I need to remember to charge it or not to loose it (I already lost one)

0·28 days agoI carry with me a small rechargeable flashlight everywhere and use it almost every day. I do not think I could have spent that money better.
It has a low light mode so I can see at night in the bedroom without waking up my partner and it’s really powerful at the same time. It even has a magnet and baseball cap clip so the hands can be free to do other stuff.
Having a flashlight in the phone is really nice, but I don’t think I will use it again.
Here in Poland it works quite well, at least when the merge is expected.
But we have signs reminding people of that and they also display this kind of driving tips on info boards on motorways when there is nothing more important.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why have we as a society just accepted the increasingly blinding bright lights of cars?
0·1 month agoIt’s fucking horrible even here in EU, where I would expect it to be better regulated. Can’t imagine how bad it’s in the US.
I’ve even seen multiple posts on local subreddits about people buying SUV/crossovers and one of the main reason was being blinded by other SUVs.
Fucking horrible it should be checked at every MOT, and it sometimes is, but the newer vehicles are exempt from yearly MOTs for some stupid reason.

0·2 months agoGemma 4 seems nice for local usage, way faster than Qwen models.
I was able to run 27B Gemma on my PC, where 14B Qwen was to slow due to CPU offload
Sometimes I break down the tasks into smaller pieces and it works but sometimes I get even more overwhelmed by the multiple new tasks so I end up doing nothing

I’ve used .rar to backup some data to an unpowered drives, some time ago. You can reserve additional space for the checksums while compressing, so you won’t be able to recover just regular .rar files.
