What a weird comment. That’s like saying using the window wipers is using the car wrong. Sure you can go without but when your shit crashes because you thought you were cool not using them you learn they serve an important purpose even though it may not be what seems to be the primary goal.

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Linux users after the try Windows 11 for 30 seconds
0·4 months agoWe’re more than 125 000 employees globally using M$ Office 365. It’s cheaper, more secure, far superior for collaboration than the locally installed apps IMO. Works on and Linux distro with a JavaScript capable browser. Google suite is even better but the people calling the shots have a fetish for M$. Saying the web versions are not professional is odd. Maybe we just don’t share the definition of professional

1·4 months agoVautlwarden as a service is great and since it’s GPLv3 licensed there’s no way that can be shut down. But the client is another matter and maybe that doesn’t stay open for using it with Vaultwarden forever https://www.osnews.com/story/145029/get-your-passwords-out-of-bitwarden-while-you-still-can/

0·4 months agoAround here employers gets to pay trillions if they even put themselves in the position of snooping on employee data , like location, without a distinct need for each individual they snoop on.

2·6 months agoStitching is the concept of updating your profile by appending your interactions from private sessions when you approve that “Yes, it was you” accessing your account “from a new device”, or when it’s otherwise possible to associate your current session with previous ones in any way.

0·7 months agoAnti-corruption and anti-money laundering is way more effective when there’s no “blackspots”. Makes it so much better when you want to follow the money. As a very privacy concerned individual I, I assume that the reason for insisting on this data be given is to fight back on corruption and money laundering. At least this Is what the bank tells me when I challenge them on this. Maybe I’m just naive sitting here in comfortable Scandinavia

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Best reverse proxy with ACME to run in dockerEnglish
1·8 months agoYou can bake haproxy and acme.sh into a container yourself. Haproxy is hands down the best performing/least resource consuming RP. Dynamic management, like mimicing Traefiks service discovery, can be a bit tricky though. Yes, it doesn’t support ACME itself but once you get passed the “hello world” RP’ing and need something more advanced, like ACME DNS01, Haproxy with acme.sh is your buddy for life.

0·9 months agoDo you know what happens to trademarks and patents when a country starts threatening its (previous) allies with military invasion and tradewars, and start undermining the values of those allies? You’re right! It goes into the square hole! Heck, maybe I’m going to start a new software company tomorrow called Microsoft, and then threaten left and right with all crazy shit if anybody complains. Nobody will care about US trademarks since US disqualified itself by now.
Our household has a subscription on Nebula we’re quite happy with. Some good independent content.
Of all the rich and influential people in US Taylor Swift is the least of your problems. She’s an absolute winner for opposing the power grabbing ppl. Take it out on Jeff Bozos or Elon or some other undemocratic capitalist.
As a former sound engineer this made me lol 😂 Poor Taylor, she would have broken a nail or ten
It’s pronounced jackblacks and boogers

I use kanidm because the footprint is lower than the alternatives you mention, and it’s written in Rust.
