What I can say even before reading any answers is that all decisions, “good” or “bad”, must be viewed through the context of time and place. I’ve read some amount on the deportation of ethnic Koreans from eastern Siberia to Uzbekistan (I think? my geography might fail here now though) by the USSR and was clarified on the issue when it was viewed through the lense of looming Japanese invasion on the Korean peninsula.

Because it’s easier for the doctor to call the woman “hysterical” than to actually address everything wrong with modern medicine, especially psychiatry, especially especially when it comes to women’s health.

DBT tended to gravitate towards a position of “this is how your brain is wrong, and here’s how you have to fix yourself” when, for me as a highly sensitive and emotional person, the distress the world made me feel as I grew older (my first symptoms of depression being from when I was like maybe 14?) is completely jutified and not fixable with shit-ass fucking SNRIs and other fucking poisons. Also I’m still salty with Finland’s national healthcare for fucking up my functioning therapy regiment back in the day, after which the state disagreed with both me and my doctor on my continued need of rehabilitation and told me to get a fucking job, bum.

That being said, some of the individual parts of DBT have helped me with my anxieties and tendencies of doomerism. https://dbt.tools/ seems like a nice, clean interface. Also the concept of dialectics helped with the coming class consciousness and diamat, so there’s that at least.

I used to cope with drugs and alcohol… Nowadays I just try to limit my intake of both (we just toke, and even that occasionally makes my emotional dysregulation flare up). Some days I just flat-out refuse to engage with the outside world if there’s too much happening. I’ve been out of most bourgeois social media for over a year now, mainly just lemmy for news/interaction and Youtube for slop. I also use .worlders and other lib/fash intance users to lash out, because I’d rather hurl abuse at pixels on my screen than actual people irl which I have been guilty of before. Though even that leaves me drained and my heart rate spiking, so I try to limit that also.

this kinda sounds like something i might have written to myself when i was at my most suicidally depressed (basically just begging for sympathy online), except even i wasn’t as much of a loser as Elon.

It’s good that people more broadly, especially in the imperial core, are starting to question the “truths” about the world and its ways they are taught. But I’m annoyed with the general usage of these terms like “techno-feudalism”, when capitalism and especially imperialism would work better, wouldn’t it? Everything must serve the capital, after all, and the internet in general - being probably the most significant invention in human history after using fire or something and having been developed to this point and made available globally in an astoundingly short amount of time - is poised perfectly for everyone to witness its decline under imperialism. So using “techno-feudalism” for this is understandable, but in the end it’s just the most recent and visible symptom of capitalism in general.

If anyone’s actually wondering about this film: it exists. I haven’t seen it though, so don’t know what it’s actually like.

Well, it’s the darkness that comes living near the arctic circle, that shit makes me question my will to live every year by itself. Thankfully we are not on the northern side, meaning that we get that sweet 4 hours of daylight this time of year before the sun sets again.

The christmas stuff starts creeping in to the stores before Halloween, even though Halloween isn’t something that’s a familiar celebration around here (but we’re a good little vassal state apparently, so whatever). And after that’s over with it’s just more and increasing amounts of christmas stuff. I hate it, it’s just worthless plastic waste that costs an inordinate amount of money because of reasons.

The music that plays on every radiostation and in every store at every time. All the songs are usually just translations of Usian shit jingles, all of which are way too cheerful and really way too fucking American for my taste, and those few that aren’t are just straight up hymns and/or psalms and I really don’t vibe with any amount of religiosity.

It’s a time for family, they say, which to me seems to be a way of guilt tripping me to visit people who stress me most, but feel bad when I immidiately want to leave and just go home.

There is a memory of a christmas here, some kind of an idea. But when I see the soulless eyes of plastic reindeer and hear the cheerless and lifeless jingle of plastic bells in the store where I (and WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE at THE SAME TIME) am franticly trying to find everything that everyone tells me that I need to buy in order to have a merry christmas, I realize that it’s simply not there. It doesn’t exist. Maybe it never did.

I look outside, and instead of the half a meter of snow I remember having fallen by this time of the year in my childhood I usually see a fucking puddle.

Seconding this, I don’t think it ever even could have gone the other way. In the end the EU (and all its members) is just another bourgeois state with the same flaws as any other, economically and politically beholden to the will of US’s imperialism and capital.

Thank you, I try my best. Not everyone gets the chance to go the same therapy I did, parts of which should really, really be in public school curriculum, and universally taught to parents to teach to their kids. But alas, it is not.

I feel like my friend (one of my oldest and dearest both in general and in the city I live in) is making great and visible progress in his recovery from mental health and substance abuse problems, and I can’t help but feel somewhat proud of myself too because I had been going through the same process a few years ago and have been helping him along with my own experiences of the same issues as a paraller and my experience in therapy on handling the emotional side of things as guide.

This same friend also agreed to join me and my partner tomorrow as our nation’s president is coming to our city to gloat over his peasants to ask him about our nation’s business with Israel, last time he was asked about this the journalist was stopped by his stooges and apprehended by cops on account of “seeming like a threat”.

Also ngl, seeing how much Mamdami is pushing ahead in New York is giving me hope. Not hope of him like single-handedly bringing about the revolution, but more hope for humanity, you know. When a person can communicate the issues with capitalism clearly for the current audience none of the proletariat can disagree, even those with years of western propaganda over their eyes. And also seeing him stay resolute on issues, and not falling for the usual rhetorical traps that policians use there has been refreshing.

All in all life seems good despite everything that’s going on.

indeed. i hope more would come to this conclusion faster, i don’t think the ecological catastrophe is going to be kinder to humans the longer we fuck with capitalism. things are only going to get worse.

i’ve been liking her more each time i heard of and from her. she has been and is an inspirational young woman, worthy of much more praise than i have time for now. i especially applaud her uncompromising outspokenness on the issues of the modern world, most of which are present and evident in Gaza/Palestine. i think i remember she confirmed that her personal focus has shifted from environmentalism to dismantling capitalism, and i think taking her reknown globally and using it to expose the absolute depravity of the zionist establishment is vital work. everyone should be more like greta.

Can’t answer that question, sorry, but I wanna say thank you for that comment. It actually helped me myself getting familiar on the actual nuances of contemporary global (and especially NATO-EU aligned) geopolitics, being a resident of both (hooray for joining NATO without any kind of real voting or polling), and also you taught me a new word (agitprop) the meaning of which I also now know. All in all wouldn’t really bother with the agitprop necessarily myself, but 5/5 for the effort.

i think it’d be preferable for an average worker to buy one pair of shoes that can be maintained and repaired when broken and thus last a lifetime of work, because it would be cheaper than buy a new pair every year because the overpriced shit they keep peddling us can’t even be repaired beyond a certain point. but alas, such is life in capitalist west. capitalism is when no shoes (or housing, or healthcare, or representation in government, or freedom of speech, or no unecessary wars, or money…)

oh yeah, i loved it when i got somewhat better from my own internal haze (depression and bpd and anxiety and shit) only to realize the world’s actually gone to shit, and now i can clearly see what and why and how.
