I use the WireGuard app with 1 profile when I’m not on my home network, my router does the rest.

Eh it only takes me 3-5 minutes to prep a bowl of oatmeal, I’m lazy and skip the cinnamon and vanilla extract but a bowl of oatmeal + raisins + brown sugar and then when I’m ready to eat add hot water and wait 5 minutes is certainly not an egregiously long task.

Get a big bag of oatmeal without the added sugars and salts, better for you and overall cheaper, buy some cinnamon, vanilla extract, raisins and brown sugar, create your own Quaker Oats.

Skeptical ye ol Carney will achieve this in his current term, it’s a lot of work to do, and even if he does I suspect this will just be another tool to track Canadians.

If I’m at home:

If I’m disconnected from my home network:

Essentially created my own multi-hop network, works like a charm.

I suspect their encryption scheme falls outside the SMTP/IMAP protocols hence the requirement for an application to decrypt/encrypt the message before being delivered to and from your desired email reader.

Thunderbird doesn’t know how to decrypt/encrypt an email if it isn’t given the tools to do so 🤷‍♂️

I use mailbox.org because both proton and tuta do not support IMAP, which is generally needed to use a 3rd party client.

Pro-tip, don’t run random executable software on your machine without verifying its origins (edit:) or if you do it, at least Virtualize and or Containerize it so the host machine isn’t effected.

Chiming in as an instance admin. The larger the instance the slower federation becomes as it has to send the data to every instance that it federates with, if you’re a small instance just starting out federating with Lemmy.world for example is extremely slow as you’re essentially last in line to receive any data.

I have also noticed holes in federation, for instance a community I created !ca_firearms_rights@lemmy.halstead.host federates with sh.itjust.works fine but not Lemmy.world (haven’t figured out why).

Give it time, hopefully correct itself.

Yeah the odds of me stepping on someone’s used needle while minding my own business walking down the street is certainly not ideal.

See if you can setup a rule to forward all email out of that inbox, it’s likely this feature is disabled or blocked through a policy but it doesn’t hurt to try.

As others said, get a separate device for work/school tasks, don’t intertwine it with your personal life.
