I’d vote against anyone who does, because whatever they hit corporate landlords with will hit the people who rent from them. And it’ll be a cold day in hell when I rent from Joe down the street.

So they’re the separatist version of the NDP, in other words.
Also: With something like 28% of the vote I don’t know that I’d call what the BQ has a mandate.

And those are probably not the ones being accused of being racist by reasonable people.

Oof. That’s not a partnership. That’s a feedback loop. 🥰

That’s my partner. Or was, until she basically said “don’t let me do that”.

Well, when folks blame immigrants for taking the jobs the youth should be doing, they’re not talking about the ones from Europe.

Are you implying I’m being racist already, by saying I should try discussing it without being racist?
No, because you haven’t been banned for being racist - at least on this account. If you have an alt you were banned for racism on, however, then yes.

Would you prefer to stay there because the government says you should? Because that’s how you get that. Nationalizing everything, for example, includes housing. Do you want the government deciding you don’t need to live where you currently are, or someone else needs your house more than you do? Because that’s how you get that.

I’d like to see a source that says Lemmy matches the 44%. I’ve heard people say the same thing about Reddit and there were no sources for that either.

You know where else I heard this complaint?
Reddit.
You know who else Conservatives say is a left-leaning platform?
Reddit.
I think it’s conservatism.
Also, just for the record, it is possible to discuss immigration and not be racist. You should try doing that.

That won’t do anything for us either. You’ll accomplish changing what the classes look like, but you’ll still be on the bottom only you’ll have the government telling you what you need as though you’re a child.

Okay, Harper cracked the door and Trudeau tore the door off. And during Trudeau’s two minorities, Singh supported it.
“Corporate greed” is what the people who voted for Trudeau and Singh say to excuse themselves for what they voted for.
blame the LPC as whole even.
The same LPC that is pulling back from those immigration numbers at Carney’s direction?

I mean, sure. But I also read what Avi wanted to see in the budget and that wouldn’t benefit me either for a different reason, so…

Precisely.
Person: “We should slow down our immigration rate.”
Someone else: “Don’t be racist.”
That’s the conversation, more or less, for most of Trudeau’s time in office. Now that Carney’s starting to do that, it’s not.

The problem is that until very recently, if you questioned Canada’s immigration policy you were called racist. You don’t hear as much of that now because the people who used to call those people racist agree.

Immigrants are not the problem, you’re right. Canada’s current immigration system, that Trudeau weakened, is. You can solve the latter without blaming the former.

Watching for finally a solution to the housing crisis.
Not holding my breath.

And even if they did, what would that accomplish? Whether you agree with the convoy or not, they protested. And not only did the government (rightly) ignore them, their accounts were frozen. Even if you could afford to take time off to protest, and even if losing your job was not a risk, that could also happen to you. Especially if the government disagrees with you. Precedent is a nasty thing when you’re on the wrong side of it.
None of them do. And unless you’re in a union, that includes the current NDP.
