It is better, because postmarket seemed to suggest that the only goal is to make old devices usable again, while in fact its main goal is to provide a good alternative OS in general.

31·1 month agoIt is basically WhatsApp 2, with a source-available client. The client isn’t free unless forked and used with some other server, because Signal can ban you solely for using a fork. Not being federated may have minor security benefits, but there is no excuse for not having the client accept connecting to multiple servers; they just want to lock you in. Normal people should use Matrix, or XMPP. I am much more concerned about Signal paywalling things and locking me in and so on than about someone knowing at what time I send messages to someone.

42·1 month agoHow would you implement it? On a glass that the user controls (root), it would be impossible. Of course, I do not like bathroom recordings, but there’s no sane way to block them.
What is OPAL, and does it allow one OS to run without device-specific porting?
My dream phone:
- UEFI (can boot any OS without 2 months of porting and a risk of bricking)
- Repairable, but also upgradeable (thanks to UEFI)
- Keyboard

I mostly like it, but can’t understand why Velocitty is using libadwaita! Even if it can now be coloured, the whole UI principles are inconsistent.
