Yep, it was 😁
I had that stuck to my desk at work for years. And I haven’t even opened the link yet to see if it’s the one I think it is.
Given the way the US has been recently, I’m willing to admit that there may be some benefit to having a leader in some position of power that had been there a long time, and has, more or less, been training for the responsibly since birth.
That’s an argument I’ve often heard, in favour of monarchy - “Would you prefer a President Blair/Johnson/Farage?”
It’s a fair point, but they never have an answer for what would happen with a King Blair/Johnson/Farage.
With a president (or any other democratic system) you can, at least in theory, have a say in who represents the country. As it is we in the UK are stuck with a mind-meltingly wealthy, influential and unaccountable family who have extremely questionable members and histories.
They influence laws to benefit their own ends, they shield abusive behaviour and individuals, and they do it all in the name of maintaining a tradition that fundamentally says that some people are simply “better” than others.
Monarchy is just repugnant to me - and not just the British Monarchy, the whole concept.
Agreed - it’s hard to ever feel any empathy with him, and so missions as him are much less enjoyable IMO. He’s a horrible person doing horrible things with no greater cause to even try to justify it.
like Kanye’s Heil Hitler
Wait, what??? I thought this was a joke, so I just looked it up. I have no words…
suddenly find Aragorn a heartless wannabe totalitarian ruler in the middle of a bitter divorce with Arwen. There would also be silly gags where he drunkenly shatters Andúril trying to cut a melon or something, and the kids absolutely loathe him because dysfunctional interpersonal drama is trendy.
This is hilariously horrifying to imagine! 😁
Do people say that? I’ve never heard that about London. Manchester though…
Quite a few MST3K films have a decent premise IMO, but lacked either the budget or the talent to make enough of them.
Eg Time Chasers (which isn’t really all that bad), The Skydivers, Moon Zero Two, Rocket Attack USA, Stranded in Space, and perhaps even Manos: The Hands of Fate.
With the right people, I think those and others could have been very decent movies.
I love Rian Johnson’s other work, especially Brick and Knifes Out.
I also love Star Wars.
I thought TLJ was dreadful though. He was just a really bad fit for it IMO. Has nothing to do with not being open to change, but it has to be the right change. “Can you hear me now?” gags and Luke casually tossing away an item that had been set up as important in the previous film were not the right changes.
Agreed, it was a big letdown unfortunately, compared to any of the other versions (including the text adventure!)
Shame, because Martin Freeman was perfect for Arthur, and Stephen Fry as the voice of the Guide was a great choice too. Though Mos Def was ok as Ford, although not on a par with David Dickson (TV) or Geoffrey McGivern (radio).
Zaphod and Trillian weren’t right at all though IMO.
My plan, in its entirety:
BRAAAAINS!!!
Yes, exactly! There’s a darkness there. Probably.
Hawaiian shirt, interesting sunglasses, hat, beard, moustache… are you Dr Jacobi?
Disaster Area
Tom Hanks. I’m not sure why, as he seems like a perfectly nice person, and even a good actor. But I just find him incredibly irritating for some reason.
Turns out you were the assassin all along and sending yourself messages to prompt pre-emptive suicide was your method.
I very much enjoyed Force Awakens and Rise of Skywalker. Last Jedi was painfully bad IMO. I like those other two much more than any of the prequels, true to Lucas’ vision or not.
But, it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks, if you want to watch them then do. And if you do, and you like them, then all good. And if you do watch them, but don’t like them, also all good. And if you decide not to watch them, also also all good.
Life’s too short to worry about a bunch of movies.
I multiply 6 by 9.
Good news - Firefox is actively developing built-in PWA functionality right now. There’s a discussion thread I’ll link you to when I find it.
EDIT - here you go, this also has links to further discussions: https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/discussions/how-can-firefox-create-the-best-support-for-web-apps-on-the/m-p/60561#U60561
There’s already a VERY early version in FF Nightly, but tbh it doesn’t yet really do anything you’d expect of a PWA.
Info on that: https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/discussions/how-can-firefox-create-the-best-support-for-web-apps-on-the/m-p/60561#U60561
You’re using all 3 of the shells, right?
