0·1 year agoTL;DR it’s a generic corporate statement about how much theyre committed to the game and how it’ll be great, etc.
Nothing of value.

0·1 year agoIf we’re going by piracy logic then you can buy a $200 used Switch and hack it to download games for free. I genuinely don’t think a phone or tablet would ever be a good experience. nobody is going to play with touch controls, it doesn’t let you play games on the TV, the emulator has compatibility issues and bugs, not to mention how most phones throttle hard when they get warm. I’m not buying this discussion at all.

0·1 year agoAndroid has Genshin Impact, GRID Autosport, Pascal’s Wager, Sky: Children of the Light, The Banner Saga Trilogy.
…So basically mediocre Android games and rare ports of older games. Nobody is buying a handheld console to play these.

0·1 year agoAndroid has a couple high-profile indie games like Stardew Valley and some rare ports of older games, that’s it. I wouldn’t call it very good. and unless you’re willing to shell out $150+ for a great telescopic controller there’s no way playing on the tablet would be comfortable.

0·1 year agoThere are Android tablets that are much cheaper than the Switch, more powerful, more battery efficient. Also, play games better.
You’re not really suggesting that playing mediocre android games on a touchscreen tablet is the same market as a handheld gaming device with controllers

There are a ton of good mobile games but the reason you can’t find them is because 99% of what you see in app stores are paid advertisements. Every section is basically paid, and the few which aren’t get botted by major companies. That app that has 5 million downloads and 4.6 average score? Most likely spammed with bots that give it 5 stars. Google Play is a disaster.
Here are some Android games I would absolutely recommend:
-
Fancy Pants Adventures
-
Data Wing
-
The Battle of Politopia
-
Sonny
-
Plato
-
Cube Escape Collection
-
Pocket City (or its sequel)
-
Bloons TD 6 (paid)
-
Dicey Dungeons (paid)
-
Dead Cells (paid)
-
Downwell (paid)
-
Baba Is You (paid)
-
Levelhead (paid)
-
Kingdom Rush series (paid, usually on sale though)
-
If you own Netflix you get to play their catalogue of games for free. I recommend Into the Breach, Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, Oxenfree
I could go on, but the point is ignore everything you see on the store. The store is garbage. Try to look for games that are well-talked about online.
Edit: Forgot to mention, there’s an app called MiniReview where you can browse game reviews from people who actually care. It’s a good resource if you’re looking for good games.

I mean that’s basically how it works in the new Zelda game

196 is an older subreddit that has no rules except one: you have to post an image before leaving. A lot of posts are titled “rule” as in they’re following the rule by posting something.
Obviously it’s more of a joke than a serious rule, so it’s quickly devolved into a place for random assortments of memes and weird images.

It’s the right choice in my opinion. Rather than spend another few years working on the new engine and possibly going into development hell again, they’re going to move back to the old engine and release the game straight into early access to gain some momentum and progress
