I’ve heard the easy care sheep aren’t as easy care as one might think.

0·8 days agoLike others, my phone number was targeted and spoofed. I got 7-10 callbacks that day. Hasn’t happened since.

I know fundamentally they’re trying to do good. Be in solidarity with what they promised to their users.

science@lemmy.world•Dangerous trends of sexual choking among young peopleEnglish
11·15 days ago(just in case, I didn’t read much past the statement in my first comment) I interpreted that sentence as an in-the-moment situation, leaving judgement and biases out. If someone dies from breath play with unwritten/unrecorded consent there’s (typically) one other person present and no recordings, so it’s their word against the defense.
There’s plenty of times where someone has been choked during sexual interaction, didn’t give consent, and never speaks of it again. Some cases (unfortunately) don’t stop there.

Technology@lemmy.world•Solar Surpasses Nuclear Power Globally for First TimeEnglish
12·15 days agoNuclear power is so cool. After SneakerNet (Sandworm) and Chernobyl Is think a lot of people would be scared of it. I used to think wind power was an awesome source until you look at life expectancy and cost for replacement parts. You can get like 10-15years but a solar farm lasts 25+ before degrading.

43·15 days ago“Once consciousness is lost, consent cannot be given or verified.”
Well, yeah no shit. Consent before engagement is consent understanding the potential consequences. Not giving consent prior to losing consciousness is typically called rape. It’s late and I’m tired so correct me if I’m wrong.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What phrases of wisdom have really stuck with you?English
0·20 days agoThis one really struck a chord with me when I was young. There used to be an illustration on the wall of the hallway which led toward the cafeteria in elementary school. It read similar, “Do the right thing, even if everyone around you isnt.”
It got me through a lot and saved my ass a few times.
Lies! It uses electricity!

If so this is clever. In the wild event they get into some sort of trouble with copying, they have a bit-for-bit copy proving they own/owned the BluRay instead of a ripped copy.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there a site where I can upload about 600gb to 1tb worth of files for free or on the cheap side and reliant? As a backup incase hardware problems?English
0·1 month agoI think I pay ~$12-$13USD for 3TB of storage with BB2. It’s been great. Nightly incremental backups with TrueNAS. Haven’t had the need yet to pull down the data (which I should, you should test your backups with a restore on occasion), but I have peace of mind knowing it’s there and encrypted.
