Games@lemmy.world•ESA bafflingly declares private Minecraft servers 'illegal'English
0·4 days agoYeah obviously since these games don’t want private servers they provided the exact files to host your own server. Do they really believe the courts are that stupid?
I don’t think these pickpockets honestly got many sympathies, even from europeans. I think there was allegedly some report were to police pleaded with american tourists not to beat up pickpockets too badly.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Steam Machine scalping hits $3,000 on eBay as sellers list preorder reservations — scalpers already flipping queues for 2X the MSRP of the 2TB model [reservations up for sale on eBay.]English
0·7 days agoI hope they just end up sitting on their steam machines with no one buying. 1k is already steep, in no world would I pay 3k for this type of hardware

Technology@lemmy.world•Cloudflare teams up with Chrome, Edge, and Firefox to tackle bot traffic without CAPTCHAsEnglish
0·11 days agoIt really depends on the implementation tho. Since Firefox is foss i hope this wont be a proprietary blob so we can actually hold them accountable
I hate email or SMS 2FA. But 2FA codes are awesome (and passkeys)
This comparison is really lacking, just like the NFT one of the other commenter.
I would say AI has a lot more usecases compared to a monkey picture URL on the blockchain
No matter how much your distaste for it is, the cat is out the bag. You can refuse it but other people will keep using it
Thats why I’m actually at least for now hoping for the FOSS Chinese Frontier labs to make the breakthroughs since many of them still share research and open weight models
But image how many jobs this could create!! 🤯
I would say this statement is false but just because its not really a secret
You wouldn’t get this advanced technology

Games@lemmy.world•Valve to no longer offer physical gift cards due to scammersEnglish
0·24 days agoValve could also just stop allowing people to turn the gift card money back into real cash. It would be trivial to implement this with a bit of goodwill. But i get your point

Games@lemmy.world•Valve to no longer offer physical gift cards due to scammersEnglish
0·24 days agoBut there will always be some form of gift card. if not steam gift card people will buy apple or google play cards. Its a sad thing going of with the scamming but honestly a physical gift card still beats a print out of an email on a piece of paper.

Games@lemmy.world•Valve to no longer offer physical gift cards due to scammersEnglish
0·25 days agoNo I think this is an awful move. Digital Gift Cards will still be available. And I think for gifting its actually really nice to still have.

Technology@lemmy.world•Google Chrome is killing all uBlock Origin bypasses, Microsoft Edge, Opera to followEnglish
0·25 days agoI dont use or like Brave that much but its definitely not Malware. This is how we lose normies. They use google chrome or whatever and infighting tells them “look this significantly more private product is awful”. We kinda gotta stop doing that. That had some scretchy incidents with referral links but their BAT thing is like whatever. You dont have to use it. Their defaults are much more private then all the other mainstream chromium browsers. And it Open Source. I also think their development for their search engine has been interesting.
