It is annoying, it just doesn’t stand out as unusual, at least to an American.

It says 50% off in a bright color, clearly indicating it’s on sale. And then immediately after, it explicitly clarifies that the non sale price will apply after the initial promotional offer term. This is standard and I don’t think it’s misleading. It’s just on sale.

Sometimes I forget people don’t have Game Pass lol. I haven’t bought anything from Steam in over 5 years.

There’s zero chance there won’t be a Fallout 5 but Elder Scrolls is their next major game, so it won’t be soon. In the meantime there’s a great free Fallout game for anyone who wants it despite it not being titled Fallout 5. It doesn’t require a subscription or microtransactions and making it sound like some sort of mobile game only shows you don’t know what it is.

I’ve played over 200 hours of Fallout 76 without spending a dime. It’s got more content than Fallout 4 by now and you don’t even have to care about multiplayer. Saying they don’t want to make games is just stupid.

This is the exact kind of content I’ve come to expect from Twitter.

There are a lot of well-meaning bots that bring posts here from other places, but they do more harm than good because we end up with a lot of low-quality posts that have been vetted by no one, and a low ratio of commenters/comments relative to a big flood of posts. So the result is a ton of posts with 0 or very few comments and low average quality.

If the only posts here were posts that someone decided was worth making, we’d have fewer, higher-quality posts, and more comments per post.

Also, with the quality of Twitter and Reddit deteriorating, it doesn’t help to import those shitty dying cultures here. We should be building new cultures.

I have a flask app with a bunch of home utilities I’ve written and one of them is a wrapper around yt-dlp that takes a URL and saves it to a Plex library location.

Then there’s a bookmarklet I use from desktop Firefox when I’m on a youtube (or other) video page that sends the current URL to that endpoint.

Also I can “share” any video URL on my phone to this web service, and I use that all the time from Newpipe when I want to watch something on my TV instead of on the phone.

Just turn it off. If they don’t have income they don’t exist.

Why would you need a home server in addition to your day to day desktop computer? I leave my desktop on at all times because it’s a Plex/ErsatzTV server, HomeAssistant server, web server for various utilities I’ve written, etc. It works great.
