A. K. A. Which song do you hate the most?
Anything from Pearl Jam.
It’s weird that I have always liked their politics far more than their music. They were right about Ticketmaster way back in the day and the first to try boycotting them.
Yet god I can’t give less of a fuck about their music.
It’s slow, and annoying. He sings in reverse. And it’s odd because I actually like grunge music.
Came here specifically to say “Black” FUCK I hate that song.
DO DO DOOT DOO DO DO DOOOOOOO
Black Hole Sun.
It’s a tedious, grating and ridiculously repetitive dirge.
Only partly related, I invented a fire eating trick named the Black Hole Sun
One day I realized I had been hearing it at least hourly on the radio while driving delivery and some switch in my head flipped. Can’t stand it. I want to never hear it again. I’ve heard Black Hole Sun more times in my life than I want to and that amount needs to stop getting higher
Take me to church by Hozier

That Mariah Carey one. You know the one.

She has so many good contenders, but one stands above them all. Good (horrible!) choice.
I was struggling to think of something I truly hate
I was coming up with a lot of bad tracks, sure, but they don’t really inspire hatered
This one however, viscerally upsetting from the first bar
Radio Ga Ga by Queen.
I had to listen to that shit played on loop for a week straight when the cruise ship I was working on chose it to be used to constantly stress test the PA system. Any time I hear it now, I get extremely angry and want to break something.
Sure that was a job and not a psychology experiment you were subjected to?
Probably Acky Breaky Heart.

I think I actually like it more for the memes than as a song at this point

I’ll see your Sandstorm and raise you Cotton Eyed Joe.
Both such bangers!
What have you done?
Oooh, THAT one. I knew I recognized the name but had no idea what it was.
Older : Elton John - Bennie and the Jets
Newer: Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso
‘Christmas Shoes’. Google it.
Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt.
McArthur Park. I just don’t get it.
Someone left a cake out in the rain. Who even does that?
People on a picnic when a downpour begins.
Should have checked the weather before planning a picnic, duh!
What’s not to get? Someone left my cake out in the rain, and I don’t think that I can take it, because it took too long to bake it, and I’ll never have that recipe again.
I might as well go first: Emilia - Big Big World
I absolutely hated it when it was released and played everywhere, and I recently accidentally stumbled across it, and to the surprise of nobody, I still loathe it.
- Melody of a lullaby.
- Least interesting chord progression in existence.
- Lyrics as if they were written by a 12 year old.
- Annoying motifs.
Honorable mention: How you remind me. I’m not just bandwagoning on nicklelback hate here, I actually kinda like them, at least their first album. But that song is so overplayed and overrated I simply cannot stand it.
I had never heard it before, but it sounds like a song that would play on some straight-to-dvd knockoff of a Disney movie with janky 3d animation, with the director’s daughter playing and singing the lead role.
Wow, never heard this one before and completely agree with each point. Not sure where it would’ve seen much air time in the US back then, though I’m sure my hometown was small enough that no radio station had it.
Scandinavia, around the turn of the millennium.
Guns ‘N Roses - Welcome to the Jungle. I don’t like GNR full stop, but the radio station I used to wake up to on the alarm clock would play that song at exactly the same time everyday.
Couldn’t understand why I used to wake up angry every morning until I changed stations.
YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE???
You’re in the jungle baby!
U2
Aerosmith - love in an elevator
Any christmas shit
Old U2 is actually pretty decent, I quite like The Unforgettable Fire
Ill take your word, cuz I aint fucking listening to it
Carol of the Bells kicks ass.
Tell you what I can’t stand, is The Obligatory Christmas Release. Some musical act, band or increasingly a solo “artist” gets big and especially if they have one brand-defining hit, they are required to do a Christmas release that is the thing they’re known for with sleigh bells and a word salad of Christmas words including a refrain where they just shout “It’s Christmas!!!” Los Del Rio did a Macarena Christmas mix. And we allowed society to continue anyway.
Oh good. There’s someone else who doesn’t see the appeal of U2.
And you just don’t like Elevator because you missed the expertly hidden, subtle innuendos. 😂
