Their name followed by the exact thing I would need to say to get then to do what I want, under a removable censor bar like how people hide spoilers.

So does everyone have a 1:1 relationship to each other? For example I will see a 6 above my dad’s head, but you’ll see a 20? (yes, I’m implying you fart way more than me)

If you can find someone who has been farting non-stop since before you were born, you’d also be able to find out how many times you’ve farted.

It would be interesting to see this update in realtime. You see someone about to get in their car, with a death time 5 mins from now. You call out “hey”, they stop, see you were talking to someone else. The date updates to 30 years in the future, as that momentary pause meant they won’t be in the place they would have when someone runs a red light.

Somewhere unseen, someone’s number changes from 20 years away to 5 mins away.

My thought was that it would be immutable. It wouldn’t change even if I told them.

I don’t think I’d tell very many people. It’s not something I’d want people to know about me. Also, the few I told wouldn’t believe me and if I proved to others that I knew this, I think they’d see me, rightly so, as some sort of freak. The temptation to ask would be overwhelming, but they don’t really want to know.

It kind of ruins the concept if you can’t use the information to change the outcome. Or maybe just makes it sad, every time you try to save someone they die at that time anyway. Then over time you work out that the clock knew what actions you were going to do, and by trying to interfere with the people with short times you actually caused their deaths.

You can’t change fate but maybe can change how ppl meet it?

Like If you knew someone was going to die maybe help them bring them peace sooner.

Add location too, otherwise that’s just cruel.

“You’re going to die in 2 days!”

      “Oh god, how? Where? Why?”

      “No idea, get fucked scrub!”

A percentage of how much our core values/morals/beliefs align, weighted by how important they are to us.

It would make it super easy to know upfront who I should include in my life and who I shouldnt.

Does it have to be a number, or can it be a named category, like current goal?

That would basically be a cheat code in all social relationships.

How willing they are to talk to you right now. You can always pick the right person to talk to if you need to ask a question, give a friend the exact amount of space they need if they’re going thru something, and easily identify people that are interested in you (or not). Best of all, though, you can spot someone who’s a little too eager to talk and avoid a hostage-style conversation where they won’t let you leave politely

Your eyes scan the room, skimming the numbers. Everyone is in their own conversation, 20, 35, 15, nothing promising until you spot an 85. Their back is turned but you make your way through the crowd to their side of the room. You say “Hey”, and they turn, and as soon at they see you their number starts to drop. 75, 60 45, 10. Ouch, sometimes you wonder why you even try.

The way it works doesn’t even involve compatibility, so much. It’s just how much you’ve conversed over time without incident, like monkeys grooming each other.

      Dwarf Fortress: 0

Rimworld: … too much. 2k+. I need better hobbies. :D

I currently have a colony with 6 infertile cat people (3 couples with psychic bonds) who hate other people so much they refuse to recruit anyone, so they all became mechanitors. Randy is an asshole this time, though.

At least their DLC are mostly backwards compatible. Can’t play Oxygen Not Included for a few months each time they release a new DLC. I’ll get a crack and download my modlist, the moment it gets playable again.
