surprisingly hard thing to do ,

it turns out, aiming for the Sun without the rocket ultimately orbiting it is not easy at all

        good point, but still :

Parker will fly more than seven times closer to the Sun than any spacecraft. Over seven years, the spacecraft will complete 24 orbits around the Sun. At its closest approach, the spacecraft will come within about 3.9 million miles (6.2 million kilometers) of the Sun.

so it still orbits it, and won’t get closer than 6 MILLION km

We choose these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard.

The shooting Liz Truss to the sun initiative may be the only way for her to make a contribution to science.

We know, and yet that is the choice regardless.

It suggests an as yet unseen level of dedication to ridding the universe of such a deeply offensive, absolute fucking cretin.

As a wonderful side project, we can see just how many despicable bodies we can physically cram into probably a SpaceX capsule, like a Tokyo subway train carriage. Musk, Trump, Vance, Putin, Netanyahu, Ben-Gvir, Farage, and Milei can start the proceedings. I’m sure we can collectively suggest more.

That’s not what I meant, but it would be good enough, and cheaper than a shot at ol’ Sol.
