  • I genuinely don’t know if those are gender identities. The world is a big place so I would guess to at least some people they are. I really don’t think I’m qualified to draw the line between fetishizing one person’s identity or kink-shaming another though so I can’t speak to any of that.

I don’t have any interest in talking past each other or attacking you or arguing semantics. I just figure there’s room under the rainbow for all kinds, so I just try to ask questions and share my limited perspective when I don’t fully understand something.

If you’re good here, that’s totally fine and I wish you all the best 🙂

  • Well gender and gender expression are social constructs, right? So why do you think they’re so static and immutable? Especially as a person who seems to have experienced changes in this regard first-hand.

Do you ask the same questions about nonbinary folks, i.e. whether it’s a fetish or they just can’t acknowledge their true gender? I suspect many would find that distasteful, if not intolerant. We already have words for trans and questioning people so the fact that these folks don’t choose those labels suggests maybe they don’t fit.

  • I honestly don’t know. The impression I get (and it’s only that, I haven’t polled anyone) is that “crossdresser” is used more by people who don’t identify so much with the “boy” part of “femboy”. i.e. They may be older, or don’t have a lithe boyish physique. And to my mind anyway, it carries more of an erotic connotation, whereas “femboy” seems more casual to me.

The trans community exists on the euphemism treadmill. We invent terms, those terms gain a negative connotation, so we invent new terms. Those develop a negative connotation.

    That’s an interesting point.

  • Another for Warframe. Something like 5000 hours over 5-ish years (I’ll correct numbers later if wrong) and I think I only ever paid like $12 for some starter platinum.

Since that’s free-to-play, here are runners up:

    • Satisfactory - 700+ hours and counting, bought for maybe $20.
    • Forza Horizon 4 - got the premium pack for $20 about 6 months before EOL and put over 700 hours into it.
    • Elden Ring - 650+ hours so far.
    • Skyrim - Endlessly replayable with mods, hundreds of hours.
    • Witcher 3 - hundreds of hours, explored everything.
    • Fallout 3 - hundreds of hours, explored everything.
    • Kerbal Space Program - Few hundred hours.

  • Hm, I’m not sure how that Intel CPU ranks but I’ll concede the core specs (5060 GPU, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD) are better than the Steam Machine. It’s surprisingly good looking too IMO, and it comes with a mouse and keyboard while still leaving budget for a gamepad.

The TDP is probably 8x the Steam Machine (not that most players would care) and decibel rating probably double (plenty would care).

Of course Windows is its own penalty. But nothing would stop you from putting Bazzite on it.

Nice find. Currently it’s on sale for $200 off, where normal price puts it right in line at $1099. But a deal is a deal. I think you deserve more upvotes for this.
