Bangin. Just what I needed tonight, thanks.

Probably refers to island mode capability. The inverters can generate their own set point voltage, rather than relying on a voltage from the grid and responding to its inputs. One of the main downsides of renewables is that they are inverter driven and the output is always chasing and lagging behind its input, whereas a spinning turbine just keeps spinning via inertia, in spite of load fluctuations.
This has other advantages with possible reactive power compensation and load diversion on distribution and transmission networks, if fully implemented.
In this case, I wouldn’t be surprised if they have island mode capability because of unreliability from the grid.
Any renewable energy is cheaper than fossil fuels.
Over the 30-50 year life of a power plant, fuel is by far the biggest cost. Renewables have zero fuel cost.
Hey if it works in nature.
The winglets on the end of airplane wings were added after watching hawk wing feathers with slow motion cameras.
The joke is that this is the best representation of a Fourier transform you’re ever likely to see.

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•Palantir Gets Massive UK Tax Breaks on Profits Made From Public MoneyEnglish
0·15 days agoPalantir doesn’t own the whole country, not yet, it’s more of a malignant tumour that keeps spreading and resists treatment. Some progress appears to be being made right now but who knows if the country will survive it in the long run.
Meanwhile Trump and co seem to pretty much own the US now.
The UK has generally been roughly 5 years behind the US with most things.

But I also agree that you can’t drop the jam.
There are better ways to enjoy plain peanut butter than in bread. Like straight out the jar.

0·16 days agoI mean I’m board with that - figuratively, not literally. Sack them all, let us vote directly on anything MP’s vote on.
But if we’re not doing that Kier staying where he was would be much better than this.
I genuinely don’t understand why he’s left. Nothing has happened. The only people pushing for this are the media, and it makes me wonder if someone in that group has made a serious threat against him and/or his family.
Yeah I was thinking it must be to do with some un-federated stuff.

How dare you post this without any link @FlyingSquid@lemmy.world
Edit: Looks a bit different today, how could have a last post 2 years ago in the OP but have a last post here just over 1 year ago?

I mean he did coin/popularise the phrase “Saying you don’t care about privacy because you have nothing to hide is like saying you don’t care about free speech because you have nothing to say.”

News@lemmy.world•What's the deal with that scary-looking green gas ICE is using in Minneapolis?
0·6 months agoIt really should be said that this expert is talking out of his ass here. He hasn’t positively identified the specific gas being used, just a similar product by the same manufacturer, and he definitely hasn’t actually measured nor tested the gas at the scene. It’s an educated guess, but still a guess.

Apparently a lot of the translations for women “washing feet” was actually originally “washing genitals” - probably the equivalent of a “massage” in the modern day.
Also, Jesus washed a lot of people’s feet.
