Allways use your vpn and just spit tunnel things that don’t work with them eg freetube. If you’re getting captchas lots you could look into getting a residential socks5 proxy, I use mullvad’s socks5 they wont be as good as a residential one though.

Was using 4get for a while but the instance seems to be broken, gonna try ecosia out for a while.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Why is no one using Quad9 instead of Cloudfare?
0·2 months agoUsed to use it buts it doesn’t feel a good idea to change your vpn’s default dns
If you don’t want anyone to read your emails the best method is just to encrypt the main text with PGP keys, note you cant really encrypt the email’s metadata though . If you’re looking for a good email experience I would 100% recommend buying a custom domain I love mine.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Premium Privacy Services: are they really that private ?
1·5 months agoAnything you pay for will only be as anonymous as the payment method you use, things like bitcoin are not really anonymous since buying bitcoin without know your customer regulations is hard. If your adversary has the resources or your threat model is high enough even paying by mailing cash proposes a risk which is why things like tor need to be free. My advice is get a password manager and create unique long passwords and never reuse usernames to prevent doxxing threats, I use keepassXc for everything even my bank.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Am I wrong for blocking the Cloudflare domain because I assume they are gathering as much as google?
2·5 months agoI block cloudflareinsights.com which my lemmy instance seems to be using lol.
I dont feel like it does anything new everything it brags about is just standard, anti fingerprinting is kinda cool but if i needed that id just use tor mullvad. The last cool browser is saw was zen
Make your main browser secure and private and use tor/mullvad for anonymity.

Opensource@programming.dev•AliasVault: Privacy-first password manager with built-in email aliasing. Fully encrypted and self-hostable.
0·10 months agoLooks cool but wouldn’t use anything other than keepassXc
Tor bridges exist for this don’t they?
Thanks for the reply, my concern for question 2 was if someone knows my domain they could discover my paypal account just by searching paypal@MyDomain.com if i where to follow that naming system which most people seem to do. Some services let you search by email.
€11.99 a month is a lot for a vpn that doesn’t mention port forwarding.
If you’re worried about slower speeds and higher ping you can split tunnel applications so they wont be affected by the VPN i do this for things like games and freetube(doesn’t seem to work with my vpn enabled).
