It’s YouTube music, which is showing popular “podcasts” on its explore page. Must be just because it’s popular because nothing in my algo on either youtube or YouTube music would suggest this shit.

Tidal used to be the only good music streaming app. Now it is being flooded with AI music in every radio and suggested playlist. Their integrity towards artists didn’t last long.

That guy is probably as incel as Trump is a common men’s ally. And the images of women are carefully chosen to stoke the sexual frustration that the incels are incapable of resolving without resorting to violence.

“The algorithm” pushes outrage content because it’s so radioactive that it even gets you to post it here. It’s just that potent.

There’s this god forsaken fucking channel that keeps coming up on my YT music that is some AI generated slop parody songs of real songs, and they all have raunchy/18+ themes and names. I used to have a screenshot cause I thought I would post it but then I never did.

Anyway fuck them, and fuck YT Music for recommending me them.

Am I the only one who stores music just as discrete files, stored in my filesystem, in folders? Don’t need any app for that. Works great. 100% cross-system compatible, works on every operating system and every device.

I personally use Jellyfin because it means I can have a public-facing page with a login that I can access from any device with a web browser, including at work, without having to install software or use my VPN. I do organize everything meticulously on the backend, but it’s just way more convenient for portability.

Just fyi, jellyfin should not be accessible publicly. Even their documentation says that.

I will trade all the dumb chuds in the world for another November Kelly podcast. If this is the price we have to pay, I will simply live with the knowledge that these dipshits exist and settle in for another six hours of WTYP.

That’s how all the thumbnails work now. Even HCR started a lighter version of it post Trump win, and she was very basic, straight up content prior.

Thumbnails/algorithm have killed hobby channels, like woodworking and sewing, all of it.

We need an “anti” algorithm slam on YT to fix it, but I doubt there are enough creators/makers/whatevers willing to engage such an operation en masse. Journalism/podcasts have always leaned on the present state of the algorithm.

The other issue is the thumbnails exist as they do due to the predominance of phone users over laptops/desktops. It’s a size thing. The thumbnail is designed for small phone screen reading.

Speaking of propaganda, I’ve been getting pro ICE propaganda on the Plex service from a group called “American Sovereignty”. Blatantly racist ads.

I started watching a lot of home-improvement type videos on YouTube, and suddenly since then all the ads now assume my dick is horribly bent and doesn’t work, and that I uncontrollably shit and piss myself.

It’s so pervasive I can’t even watch YouTube on my living room TV with my young kids around because I would have to explain way too much to them.

A few years back I dived in to men’s mental health on youtube. My husband and I were in a rough patch and I just wanted to see some content created by men to maybe reach/understand him better.

the aglo went… bananas. I couldnt believe how fast shit went to a scary and innapropriate place. Nothinh was helpful in tje end.

As with dating apps, if the mental health recommendations actually worked then engagement would go down. I doubt they even need a human putting their thumb on the scales; the algorithm optimizes engagement in whatever way it needs to.

I also watch a lot of home improvement videos on YouTube, and I’ve never seen one of these ads that you speak of. I think there may be some sort of cross-watching or other things going on in your life that you are either unaware of or unwilling to admit on the internet…

This podcast recommendation nonsense is in Spotify too.

I’ve never listened to a podcast from Spotify and it’s impossible to turn off the suggestions.

I’m thinking of switching to Deezer as I think they are a pure music service.
