uh uh, careful- hitler rejected non-“national”-socialists, his own darling invention, one word added onto what used to be the socialist german workers’ party. he found the “socialist german workers party”, fell in love with them, then added one word/concept, and really fell in love with his own hybrid creation, then deemed all the other brands (there were a lot going around at that time- these were all his street-level political group rivals) wrong and eliminated them, mostly by arranging a street thug gang the brownshirts, and sending them out on beat-down missions, to quickly run through an opponents’ rally, give everyone there a quick punch to the jaw, then run off. this intimidation tactic worked well, plus many other illicit tactics. later actions: seized tons of industry, but then put german workers into automatic jobs therein. this is a form of marxist socialism. i agree that its also fascist, just as i insist every version of other realized marxist-socialism was fascist: all the russian and chinese versions and satellite versions. all of them are both fascist and marxist-socialist, as realized.

I miss the days when everyone agreed what a horrible thing Hitler was and the whole world learned from it & went a few decades resolutely never wishing to repeat any of his philosophies & atrocities.

By “everyone” you mean “people you interacted with to the extent to what they said to you.”

These are the same people who say “the Confederacy was Democrats!” Because they have no way of looking past the absolute surface level.

Maybe, but if you’re dumb enough to believe that the Confederacy or the Nazis were the good guys you’re dumb enough to believe anything.

They bite on even historical / antiquated propaganda and marketing. The socialism in “national socialism” was a marketing device to say “we care about workers too you guys!!!”. Nazis cared about the workers and respected socialism about as much as the “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea” cares about democracy, people, a republic, or even Korea.

🤦 It’s the world’s biggest suckers falling for it again and again.

The development of Grok is quite interesting to me. Musk has two competing goals:

    1. Make Grok smart
    2. Make Grok agree with Musk

Musk seems to be choosing some kind of middle ground. If you look at trackingai.org Grok falls into the bottom left quadrant, like every LLM. Of all LLMs however, it leans the most towards the bottom right.

History is written by the victors. So any kind of narrative that would fit the image allied forces have over World War II is now considered ‘historical consensus’.

That said, Hitler was a fascist who used leftist signal words to appeal to people who weren’t doing well financially.

So you’re like just a Nazi?

The West and Soviet Union would both agree that Hitler was in no way socialist. If you find yourself that opposed to both sides of the allies that leaves very few political alignments that aren’t fascism.

Sure you say Hitler was a fascist too, but I can see no other motivations to try and disagree with the post’s statement of the facts.

They have historians in the loser countries too.

If that were true they would have branded it as communism during the red scare.

History is written by whoever happens to write it down and historians interpret that in context of other sources and the author’s likely biases.

History is written by the victors.

That is a myth though. Probably one of the most repeated myths on the internet.

So any kind of narrative that would fit the image allied forces have over World War II is now considered ‘historical consensus’.

That is complete bullshit as well. People who write such things have no idea how academic history works. Sure governments often have a tendency to have history presented in a certain light which fits their particular political agenda, but academic history functions quite independently of those governments, especially a field such as World War II, which is huge and transnational, being written from all sorts of perspectives and contexts.

“History is written by the victors” feels like propaganda authoritarians would push to do things like, erase “slavery = bad” from history.

Maybe a good indicator of that is: We still know about a lot of the horrendous things the USA has done over the centuries.

We didn’t “Heroically defeat a land of savages trying to tear apart this great natural wonderland, and graciously offer them sanctuary out west.” Instead we learn about it as the Trail of Tears.
