2 of the 3 major U.S. television networks have decided not to broadcast a planned prime-time address on Thursday by President Donald Trump on their primary platforms, risking the ire of an administration that has placed unprecedented pressure on American media.

It is really encouraging that the networks are beginning to admit what everyone has known for ten years. Trump is incapable of telling the truth about anything. When he says he wants to address the nation about something, it just means that his usual methods, mostly short incoherent posts on social media, aren’t getting his lies out as effectively as he had hoped. No one benefits from listening to him.

Smart money says they just can’t afford to take the ratings hit. Trump’s a serial liar, a blowhard, and just annoying to listen to.

You can find out the nut of whatever is important on your Internet news of choice. There’s no reason to watch him talk in real time, unless you’re in the MAGA cult or you’re on the clock for it.

Yeah, you could tell in that clip that The Daily Show played from Faux News that even the suck-ups on Faux can barely stand his boring rambling.

I think it could be because there is/was a high likelihood that Trump could defame election companies like Smartmatic during the speech. Fox News had to settle defamation defamation claims over the 2020 election for nearly $1B. ABC and NBC aren’t necessarily shielded from liability just because Trump says it on live TV.

I think this is it. They’ve decided they can generate more engagement by broadcasting commentary about what he says, rather than just broadcasting what he says.

If I wanted to get a senile old man ramble about their crazy theories, I’d just go downtown.

Every network on this half of the planet could have broadcast it, still wasn’t going to watch.

      I watched it.

      • he sounds like he’s dying. His throat sounds like death.
      • he does this little shoulder dance frequently, it’s odd.
      • he started off saying American are beautiful and they have better jobs than ever right now
      • it took him 5 minutes to get to the main point about elections
      • he claimed China has been hacking our systems in a non-auditable manner since 2018.
      • he claimed China stole something like 10M (100M?) voter registration details, but didn’t mention what China is doing with them.
      • he claimed that our election system has a lot of integrity issues that make it untrustworthy, but that he plans to resolve them.
      • he said he plans to (1) send every state a list of voters to deregister, (2) prevent mail-in ballots, and (3) require proof of citizenship to vote.
      • he urged everyone to reach out to their representatives and urge them to pass the SAVE America Act.

Oh, and he claimed this information was being declassified with the documentation available on whitehouse.gov.

He’s trying to erode confidence in the election, get a bill passed, and prevent ease of voting.

They should have taken this route ages ago. Don’t play any of his ramblings in real time.

Do highlights, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, FACT CHECKS to put all of his blatant lying into context. And do the same for all of his lackeys.

I watched CBS. they showed a small portion of the speech and spent most of the hour fact-checking him. They cut away from him right after he said the networks refusing to air it should lose their broadcast licenses. Kudos to the media for attempting to stand up and fight the good fight. Better late than never.

Extremely late… After enabling and supporting him…

I used to defend MM as necessary… since T2 they all are compromised and need to go.

Alternative media like Zateo and other independent outlets are the new true news.

I thought CBS had caved to the administration, so if they are fact checking him that’s something at least.

This seems like a big deal, but I haven’t watched broadcast TV in more than ten years, so I dunno.

I mean, it will still air on every channel MAGA watches, so that’s what matters, right?
